Bit more motivated!

When I have fed the cats in the morning I sit in bed doing some puzzles on the iPad, Pandora usually gets on my laps and stretches down to my feet leaving her tail to wag and get in the way! This morning she decided to face me for a change so pics of a pretty girl.
The weather was much the same as yesterday, grey wet and even windier so I did some household chores and the managed to get the canvas that
Darren bought last weekend put up in the dining room.
The colours are perfect in the dining room, it was a great bargain.
Sher sent me a message to say that Tina’s coasters were ready so I went along to the shop to collect. I will check with Tina and maybe add a photo tomorrow.
I had sorted out veg that needed using so made tea for us all for when Darren got in from work, nd Tina wa home from Mirfield. after dinner I went out into the garden as the weather had improved and it was sunny and warm. Very overgrown beds and dying plants and couch grass, but time to tidy and get the edges done as the lawns were cut on Wednesday.
This is not the best photo of. Bee a I couldn’t see what I wa doing, but nice shot with the colours.
Took this one when I wa emptying the cart into the bin.
I didn’t get as far as I intended but after an hour or so I had had enough,
Hopefully garden day tomorrow.

Lacking motivation!

Not a lot to write about today, started the day feeling lethargic and have stayed that way, not help by it being grey, cold and drizzly most of the day. I wrote a letter to my friend and did walk to the post office to post it as in the town the only collection in the town post boxes is at 9am! I did wander up to the sea and had a drink at the leisure centre. Couple of slightly different pics as I walked along the lower promenade.
I walked along to Countdown on the way back and bought a few bedding plants.
A few household chores and not a lot else today. Hopefully motivation will return tomorrow!

Pottery and nice pressie

This morning I walked up to Freeport, my knee was a bit sore today and I am coughing well, not surprising as Tina and Darren have had coughs and colds for a while now. I managed to get there before there was a very heavy downpour! Caroline Had bought some stuff that I had ready for the garage sale, so instead of having the money I had a large dragon light to paint. I forgot to take a photo before I had started but only had done a bit of red.
I painted the main body red and then removed some of it. It is oky, there is method in my madness,
I then used some purple and green so that the red should show through.
That was all for today. The rain had stopped so I walked back today and went in to Tesco on the way. Then I called in to see Sher at Botany Boutique. She had made me a present when she was at the fused glass workshop, a really lovely pendant.
Tina is away for a couple of days so I got dinner for Darren and myself. As we had rain I couldn’t really do much in the garden, hadn’t got a lot of inclination anyway. I did some washing but not a lot else. Good step count today though!

Visit from friends

Our first home was at a caravan park in West Kingstown. Both of the boys were born while we lived there but we had moved before Anya came along. A lot of young families lived there and Meg and Mike were friends on the site. We did see each other a couple of times after moving but many years ago. They messaged last week to say they were having a family holiday in Bridlington and could they come and visit. We arranged for this morning. As the morning went on and they didn’t arrive I realised we had no number in the garden anymore and they didn’t have my telephone number! I put the old worn sign up by the cross and then made a sign and propped it up on the bench!
I needn’t have worried, they had left a bit late and the Satnav led them straight here, they arrived a bit before midday. We had a cuppa and chatted for a while before heading out for lunch.
It was raining so we just went to Sullivan’s and a quick look at the sea!
We have exchanged Pune numbers so can send messages as well as the odd letter!
Will finish with a couple of photos I took yesterday evening on an unusual cloud.

Not a lot of rain so in the garden

The first job today was mowing the smaller lawn in the front garden, at that point we were expecting rain by mid morning. As it was still dry I went into the back garden to carry on with the bed I started when I got distracted by the cat and crows saga. But I trimmed a bush back first and then used the new edging tool and went rough tough the bed. I did start the side I took the picture of.
I started digging just out of shot of the picture. The bush out of shot gets covered in bind weed and as I was digging I came across so many roots, large white ones. I realised that they were from the bind weed, I didn’t get very far!
I still have to sort out all the edges and more digging. It started to rain so I left that for a while.
Tina got Darren to go and get fish and chips for dinner which was enjoyable. We did have quite a heavy shower so after lunch I went out to do some strimming. I did all around the back of the beds and around the apple tree, which was like a jungle. Got stung quite a bit by the nettles! At the back of the summer house I had put the bird feeding cage. I have been putting some mealworms in there and they have been disappearing, but it had nettles and weeds all growing up from the inside. I saw a great tit land on top and was looking in but couldn’t work out how to get to the treats. The gaps in the top are not as big as the sides. So I pulled out most of the weeds and nettles and it came back, then worked out getting it, that made my day!
My heart was telling me to carry on in the garden as there was so much to do, but my head told me I had done enough. For once I listened to my head!
Had a bath and have been doing some tidying and now just relaxing.

No boot sale but quite busy

Went to the sea front cafe with Darren for breakfast as it had rained in the night a sand was still spotting this morning. I wanted to get the picture I bought last weekend up so got the hammer and picture pins out and moved some pics. Got some cobwebs down while I was at it. So now the area above the tv I have my favourite pictures.
After lunch the rain had stopped so I went out to do some gardening. I was going to start on the patch where the bird baths are but in the end decided to do the bed that is against the fence of the pub next door.
Spent quite a while and even got some of the plants that I had hardening off into the bed,
After dinner I decided to mow the main lawn I. The front garden S the rain hadn’t arrived and more rain is forecast for tomorrow. It takes me and hour and is a workout!
Watching The Piano now, my feel good program.

Garage day sale.

Sal andCarol arrived before eight as they were setting up tables as well. I was pretty well prepared this time and soon had things out and priced. It was a very chilly morning but it didn’t actually rain, which was good. We were packing up just before three, and I had sold quite a bit and nearly all the larger things. I didn’t take photos during the day. But after getting everything inside I did go to do a bit of clearing near the front door. Didn’t take a photo then either but did take one of the wisteria as it has been the strangest plant. I planted it several years ago, it comes into leaf very late and doesn’t flower. It also would not cling to the wall as they and known to do. I managed to pin it to the wall last autumn. In other places the wisteria are in flower, ours is just in leaf, but against the wall!
Earlier in the day Darren got one of the garage sale maps and went round the town to other houses taking part. He messaged me to see if I was interested in this painting. It was £2, so I said yes.
I will finish with some pics from some years ago.

Catching up day

I was a bit slow off the mark today although I was up before six! I moved quite a lot of the stuff for the garage sale downstairs ready before going out to visit Bel. She was well but had a day earlier in the week when she got herself into a panic as she was late for going out to the shop and felt unwell afterwards. The man from Specsavers called when I was there and then arrived to deliver her new glasses.
I came home and did a bit more sorting before I set off to walk to Jeans today going via the sea as always.
Had a good chat and then Terry drove me home.
Had to sort out the bird food storage when I got home, and some final getting stuff together for the garage sale. Then off to the village bingo in a bit!

Second scan, all clear

This morning I pottered and did a few chores, had a bad night and wasn’t feeling too lively. About eleven set off with Tina into Hull, I had my clinic appointment at two but we left early to have time for lunch and a wander round first. Tina took a picture of me when we had ordered lunch. Only people in there at the time.
We enjoyed lunch and then walked to Princes Quay.only purchase was throat lozenges! We stopped for a coffee on the way to the clinic. Nice art work on the wall.
Not such nice art work at the clinic. This large photo was apparently part of the site before the clinic was built. Taking it is one thing, having it blown up and displayed is beyond me! The only thing to look at as we waited.
Scan done and chat with a nurse afterwards. All clear and he will report back to the surgery.
We made our way back to the car park, forgot to mention that the lift wasn’t working when we got there and we helped a lady down with her push chair. Luckily it was working when we got back!
We called in Lidl on the way back. I was dozing off in the car!
This evening I have been marking things up for the garage sale as I won’t be in tomorrow evening as it is Vicar of Dibley style bingo at one of the viallges!

Very heavy rain so bus to Freeport.

Rain was forecast, and boy was it right this time. The street was flooding when I went to catch the bus to Freeport. I made some clay items with Caroline and she said that we have four people booked on out workshop. The seahorse I painted a couple of weeks ago had been fired. It had looked very pale so wasn’t sure how would turn out. It is still pale, but is really quite cute.
More exciting was the fact the the gecko Rob pined for me was ready and it as absolutely lovely. He was so pleased at it was only the second thing he had painted.
Caroline gave me a lift home that was kind. When the rain eased I went out and did some errands. Then I went to see Sher at Botany Boutique as I wanted to see if they had any domes. I will explain. I went on the kokedama workshop and I made three, but one has a plant in that isn’t really suitable as it needs more water. The answer is to have it in a dome or container so that it creates its own moisture. The three looked good displayed together so I have got them in a similar way. She didn’t have a dome but they had a preserving jar which should work.
I got the new gecko onto the wall in my bathroom.
When the rain eased a bit I topped up the bird feeders and took a couple of photos while in the garden.
Sorting stuff out for a garage sale on Saturday this evening. Back for another scan tomorrow!

Quieter day

This morning I walked to the sea front again but this time to meet Angela and have breakfast at Lyndseys, we had  good breakfast and natter.. I walked home as well and after yesterday that seemed to make me tired!
I fed the birds and cut some rhubarb but couldn’t build up the enthusiasm to do any gardening. I did make an apple and rhubarb crumble and took some rhubarb round to a meeting in the parish hall.
I saw the lady whose car was up the tree yesterday, Puddy hasn’t returned home and he has a brain tumour. I do hope he does return home and is okay.
I went along to see Sher at the shop, she wa busy but I had a chat with Hayley and she said my fused glass coasters were back. I enjoyed that workshop.
So a short entry today and I will be off to the pottery studio tomorrow.
