Sun pictures.

This morning I set off to go swimming, another picture of my spectacular poppy plant.
As I neared the park the new growth on the plant before the entrance looked like it was aflame in the sunshine,
The waters in the park were so still today, beautiful.

I had a reasonable swim, the pool wasn't too busy and walked back through the park again. This tree appears to be dead apart from the branches at the bottom.
In one of the shelters there is a hole that looks like a picture frame, I did take a picture through it some time ago, but worth another on I think.
I spent an hour or so working on bits of the back garden I could reach. Won't do before and after as there doesn't look a lot of difference, but I filled my pink garden truck twice and the garden recycling bin is now full.
Charlie was on the settee where I usually sit when I came in so I sat on the 'cat chair'. I had a mug of water next to me and the next thing I knew was Blue was having a drink from it!!
Tina and I went up to the church and spent a couple of hours polishing the altar brass ware.
We forgot to take tooth brushes with us so couldn't get into the crevices, but they look good and we will go again armed with the tooth brushes.
A busy day but I have use the pyrography pen on one more blank.
I have been looking for replacement tips but it appears you have to buy a complete set and I really just want the fine ones.

Tuesday 30 May 2017

This morning I did a bit of pruning in the front garden while I was waiting for Sandy to pick me up. The poppy plant has already had five flowers open and it is full of buds, it will look tremendous when a few more are open.
I spent a couple of hours with Sandy and she looked through my Ghana scrapbooks. Darren picked me up from there and we had a bit of lunch at Sainsbury's and then did some shopping. I bought this artificial flower arrangement as they were on offer and they are delightful. It is quite light so I will keep it indoors for now.
When I got home Colonel was on the pink chair, all three cats now taking it in turns! Then Blue got on with him and tried to muscle him off, the results were quite amusing.

I tried another piece of pyrography, I think they are improving.
This evening Sandy and I were going to go to the pictures but we were not allowed to use the free tickets, so we went to the spa end and had a coffee followed by a cold drink and had a good natter. The weather has improved and it was a nice end to the day.

Monday 29 May 2017

One of the jigsaws I got on Sunday was really old in it's original box. Quite a small number of pieces but when I started it they were curled with age, which made it a bit awkward.
I also did another practice piece on the pyrography blanks. Used another different nib and did manage a lighter touch on this one. I also sanded the blank down before I started.
I spent this morning ding household chores, some washing, and making sure the cats were okay as 'mum and dad' were not going to be around until tonight. Then I finished the puzzle before I went out for a short walk.
I think this little puzzle is a great picture. I went off to the park, my knee and ankle did not want to work well today so I just made it to the park, sat on a bench for a bit and then came home via the shop as we needed milk. It was still drizzly and has been grey and misty all day. Took a couple plants which looked bright despite the weather.

Have tried one more practice piece, tried a face which was probably a bit too ambitious, but it is all getting me used to the tool.
No plans for the evening, I have some dvd's if there is nothing on the television.

Sunday 28 May 2017

Yesterday evening I had some music on as there was no Casualty and I tried another pyrography piece with a different tip. These blanks are quite grainy, may try rubbing the next one down before I use the tool.
Darren and I went off to the boot sale this morning, a trip we both enjoy, especially the Cumberland sausage bap and cup of tea! I got lots of bargains today, a couple of really old fashioned small jigsaws, which I will put on the blog when I am doing them. These food storage containers, which are new as far as I can tell, were £3 the lot. Three are already in use.
This fabulous little wind up travel alarm clock was 50 p, it is still working fine and I love the face which has a mother of pearl finish.
I have been trying to organise my belongings for a while, took a lot of earrings to the boot sale last week when we had a stall ourselves. I spotted this jewellery cabinet and nearly took the mans arm off when he said I could have it for a pound. I have polished it and will get putting jewellery in it this evening.
When you lift the top it has a mirror and all the hinges work and the drawers are sound. I went back to the car after about an hour and a half as my ankle was the one giving me trouble today. When Darren came back he said he has seen a gate leg coffee table that I would like. I actually love it! I have polished and covered it with a blanket in the bedroom for now to protect it until I have enough room to display it to full advantage.

So this afternoon I have been polishing them and generally tidying up. I watched the formula 1 race with Darren and Tina, a bit boring today but Lewis did well, started in 13th position and ended up being 7th at the finish. I thought George Gently was on tonight, but as it isn't I will watch the last Grantchester of this series.

Saturday 27 May 2017

Last night I walked up to the church to go along to the flower festival. To see the flowers of course and also to listen to Tina singing with the choir master to start the evening off. The bay was clear on the way up.
I will just put three of the flower displays on, they were representing different hymns. There were many beautiful arrangements.

I walked back again after looking round as Tina was busy talking to church members. The bay was beautiful as the evening progressed.

This morning I walked up to the studio and also took a couple of bags of stuff to the charity shop. Had a chat with Donna and showed her my Ghana scrapbooks.
This afternoon, as Tina had a Saturday off and the weather was lovely we had a trip out to Hornsea. We had a look at the lovely church, sadly we couldn't go inside.

We looked round the town and then made out way to the sea front.
We had a wander and spent a while on the slot machines, then had something to eat. Tina and I watched the spray while Darren went and collected the car to save my legs!

A lovely drive both ways and we stopped in a couple of villages to look at two very different churches, again they were locked. Firstly at a tiny village called Atwick, fantastic church.
Then in Skipsea and Norman church.
Very open to the elements that one with a great view.
We had an ice cream on the south bay before returning home after a very nice trip out.

Friday 26 May 2017

Last night it was a cloudless sky as it will be again this evening. These pics were just as the sun was going down by the much photographed chimney pot!

That one gives the effect of a double sun, more luck than judgement. This morning I went into town early with Tina who had a nine o'clock eye appointment. The new decor at The Brunswick Centre is quite attractive, no graffiti on it yet!
We went our separate ways, I did quite a bit of shopping and then walked to the studio to see Donna and to collect the cake stand. I really like it but it would seem a shame to cover it with a cake, which rather defeats the object.

I walked home from the studio and as Tina and I both had packages coming today I sat downstairs with a puzzle book for a while so that Tina wouldn't have to come down from the office. I had ordered a pyrography kit and it arrived. I did a little a long time ago and fancied trying it again. I had a little play with just one of the tips, it will need a few more practice pieces before I start anything on a bigger scale.
Going to the church for the opening of the flower festival this evening, I expect there will be some beautiful arrangements so hopefully one or two good pictures for tomorrow.
