Heading home

I will start with a photo sent to me by Tina yesterday. She had to take the car to Scarborough and called in at the Filey bird garden on the way home to collect our passes. But had a quick look round while she was there. The animals were new arrivals, we have no idea what they are but they are very cute!
This morning Anya picked me up quite early so we could have a coffee and chat before I started my journey which was a good start to the day. Then she went off to work and I went to the station. Sat in the waiting room for a while which was quite pleasant recently upgraded I think.
The assistance on both journeys was fine, not as I had anticipated but it was a great help so good to know in the future. I had almost two hours at Doncaster so had a wander round Frenchgate and had a very nice salad for lunch. It really is n interesting shopping mall and I did take a few pictures.
The train got into Hull in good time for me to get the next bus without too much of a wait. Although the wait was longer than expected as it was fifteen minutes late! Didn’t line this photo up very well, was taking the sign in the shop window that caught my eye.
Darren and Tina were working when I got in so made myself a cuppa and soon had company!
The leg has continued to be quite painful, especially on the first train when my reserved set was at a table so very restricted leg room! WeRy this evening so not doing a lot.

Meeting Aurora and Roses birthday

Chatting with Rose this morning and then her dad and Jane visited for a while. Anya came for me to take me to her house for lunch and meet Aurora. She came near me but soon went away again! She is very beautiful.
Anya brought me back here to collect the rollator and then took me round to Nora’s house. Had a couple of hours with them and then walked back here. Anya andRose both turned up just before six ns we ordered in pizza and watched a couple of episodes of The Listener,.
Had to have a selfie nd now we are going to watch a film.
Been a pleasant easy gong day. Just as well as the leg isn’t too good and travelling again tomorrow.

Not a happy knee today!

The last couple of days the knee has been remarkably good, almost like I am making the whole thing up! I didn’t overdo it at all yesterday, in fact probably one of the least active days I have had since I got the Fitbit, but last night was particularly bad and today the leg has been really painful. False sense of security shattered!
I rarely alter my photos but I have lightened this one as it was so dark and both the cats were on the large cat stand and that is fairly unusual.
I did my usual puzzles and then some of the on line jigsaws before Rose got up. This one seemed particularly appropriate for me to save!
We went in to see Margherita this morning as Rose had bird sitting duties this afternoon. Rose took her birthday cards in to open a day early so that she could open them with her mum as usual and we went and bought take away cake from the cafe in the park to celebrate with her as well. The park was really busy as there were Eid celebrations going one and people having a great time.
Margherita was in good spirits, enjoyed seeing the cards and really enjoyed the cake, then we all did a word puzzle together. I had taken the rollator in with me and I walked into the city centre and Rose headed home, I really struggle with the walking today and was glad of a sit down and rest when I got into a cafe. I quite liked how this nursery had decorated their vehicle.
I caught a bus up to the Brotherhood retail park, and then phoned Rachel. I sat outside Morrisons and they came to collect me. Just had an hour or so with them and they brought me back to Roses. Was able to say a proper goodbye to Skip today! Rose got home soon after me and we have had a restful evening. Mimi was in a box next to me which was unusual as she is mostly high up on the cat stand. So a couple of pics of her to finish.

Seeing friends and Rachel’s new grandchild

I don’t close the curtains as no one can see in where I sleep and being light makes no difference to my inadequate sleeping, so nice to look out from the bed at about 6 am!
Nice puzzle picture from this morning.
Rachel came and collected me t about eleven and we went to Sainsbury’s first so that ai could buy a present for the baby. Then we went to The Barn garden centre and had a cuppa and a scone. Then back to the house and an hour or so later Ethan, Ami and baby no name yet arrived. She is a lovely content baby and I cuddled her for a while.
We carried on chatting after they left and then Rachel took me over to Angie’s house so that I could spend a couple of hours with her. We haven’t seen each other for a while so we had a good catch up. Then Angie brought me back to Rose’s. We have been chatting and watching tv, so all I all a nice day.

Travelling and trying assistance!

An early start today, left with Darren at about 6.50 am. He took me to Hull station. I found during the day that I didn’t actually wear the rucksack as it balance okay on the rollator and I could still push it easily. I didn’t have to use all the pass codes I had for assistance, they all knew I was booked nd no problem with that part. But the assistance wasn’t quite what I expected, they didn’t remove the rucksack and rollator but stored them in the usual storage, which was not good on the first train as the rollator was sticking out and in the way! But overall it worked okay and I got here complete with walker and luggage! At Doncaster I had a short wander outside. There is a structure that was just damp to start with and then when I walked back the water was rising a bit, I imagine it was proper fountains a bit later.
Mike met me at the station and we took a slow walk into the city and had a couple of very nice chai teas while chatting. Nice graffiti along the underpass.
We met up with Rose and had lunch and then did some shopping in Asda before Rose and I went to wait for a bus. It was about twenty minutes and the bus was heaving, which was fun with the rollator, rucksack and a bag of shopping!
Rose went out for a while when we got back and I just relaxed and did some puzzles.
We have chatted and watched some tv since she got back.
Pretty weary now but the journey was better than I anticipated and I managed a bit of walking around the city centre.

Boot sale and willing it to rain!

We went to the boot sale this morning as usual, very hot and humid so early in the day. I just bought three pairs of earrings for a princely pound and Darren a pack of cards, so very restrained today. I didn’t make it all the way round so went and waited in the car when I had had enough. Have the journey tomorrow and didn’t want to overdo it!
Afterwards we drove to the sea front and had an ice cream. A bit cooler by the sea.
The random poppy has become three poppies!
Tina had been given a plant which didn’t get watered a couple of times so definitely looked at deaths door! Given lots of water and tlc and now in a pot in the walled garden it looks pretty healthy now.
I did go out and staked a few more of the sunflowers, ever hopeful that the storm would arrive and wanted to stop them getting flattened! Said storm has bypassed us again.
I went to Skipsea church with Tina this afternoon and took some photos of a few of the flower arrangements.
There were some pots with succulents in for sale and I bought this one that has a couple of cacti about to flower.
Feeling shattered and a long day tonorrow so will retire after watching Van Der Valk.

Hot and humid day!

This morning after the shopping was delivered I went to the shop for lunch supplies and then went to see Bel for an hour. I didn’t see her yesterday as I was at the doctors and I will be on my way home from Peterborough next Friday. I went out in th front garden and did some strimming on the lawns as the thistles and other weeds were getting big and the hand mower doesn’t deal well with them.
I have started to sort things out into the rucksack in readiness for the journey on Monday.
I have watered the back garden this evening, was really struggling with the leg pain by the time I had finished,
The plant on the cordiline are very weird. I had real trouble getting a picture in focus as they are quite small and in the shade!
The outside asparagus fern has tiny flowers on now, it is really lovely.
Another plant that is a bit hidden has sprouted an amazing flower.
I went up to Skipsea church with Tina, she was taking a fun flower arrangement she had done as they are having a flower festival tomorrow with the theme celebrations. Bet there won’t be another one like Tina’s with artificial flowers and sweets!
Will finish with a fabulous photo and a good news story. European bee eaters have returned to Norfolk.

Short and sweet

I walked to the surgery this morning and the doctor drew illustrations to explain my knee, didn’t see the X-ray though. He will send a referral off and warned me it could be quite a while. He also said that he didn’t think it was worth offering injections. I said hello to the sea, rather a grey morning but not cold.
Visited Jean this afternoon, but no walking as Terry collected me and brought me home. Glad not to be doing more walking today as it seems to be getting more difficult.
I watered the front garden but there seemed to be a problem with the water pressure so the back didn’t get done. Took an age to fill the cans to water the bonsai trees!
The bees seem to like the delphinium!

Walled garden and new rucksack!

I will start todays post with one of the on line puzzle pictures, but this one is for Tina!
While on a cat theme I was up at 5.30 am today and when I sat in bed to check the news nd do my daily word puzzles Pandora settled along my lap ns looked so comfy!
Today I decided to work on the walled garden as it does get neglected nd ends up being a dumping ground. My leg was pretty painful today and the latest  support was cutting into my leg a bit, so by midday I was changing it.
A pretty random poppy out there.
I am travelling to Peterborough next week and taking the rollator so cannot manage a case, so Tina took me to Freeport to hunt for a larger rucksack. We found one and then went to Mappleton for lunch. The cafe there has new owners now. We did go up and look at the se, but the grasses nd weeds re very high so not a lot of sea!
A bit out of sync, this lovely plant was at Freeport.
When we were home I spent move of the afternoon back in the walled garden. One of those little bugs was around again.
Before I put the after photo of the walled garden I will post a photo I forgot last night, I did pot up the delphin and a lavender that Tina was given.
And now a rather tidier looking walled garden,
The on line puzzle theme is Mary Poppins at the moment and most are fairly boring, but will finish with a fun one!
