Chilly visit to Hull

I went into Hull this morning, Tina had a long meeting and I was just going to wander off and do a bit of shopping before we met up for lunch. She parked a little way from the city centre but I found my way in, but most of the photos are in parts of the town I don’t usually see. It was cold today, the wind was bitter and there was occasional icy rain! So, not much more writing but a lot of photos!

I bought some toiletries and also a book caught my eye, it was the crow that swung it!
When Tina was finished we went to a garden centre and had lunch, I was ready for that as I had got quite cold wandering around!
Another quiet evening, although I am not feeling as tired now which is good.

Nice to see the sea again!

I took a walk to the front today, I wanted to go to the post office and collect a prescription so thought I would do those jobs on the way home. I also took the used tablet blister packs to the estate agents who have a recycling tub! It began to rain while I was at the front and it felt on the verge of being sleet!

I am still quite tired and my leg was pretty painful when I was put, but maybe it will settle down yet. Sat with Pandora for a while when I got home and she made herself well and comfortable!
I had a phone call from the dentist saying they had a cancellation if I could make it this afternoon. I said I could so that was a pleasant occurrence. I have a jar on 1p’s that was full to the brim, I decided to count them and bag them up. It is easy to get them in, but when it was jammed full getting them out was a whole different matter!
On. The way to the dentist I took a picture of the magnolia in the front garden which has loads of buds. I hope they don’t all drop if we get snow again as forecast. The one in the back garden only has three buds!
Didn’t have to wait long in the surgery, said to the receptionist that I hoped it wasn’t going to cost me a fortune and she said no, it is under guarantee! The dentist decided to put a pin in this time so a couple of injections and drilling this time, hopefully it will last a bit longer! It was fine, then it began to feel more painful and has now at last settled down again.
Watching Endeavour on catch up as I couldn’t stay awake when watching it last night!

Short and sweet

Not a lot to say today. I am still feeling tired, a bit down and a painful knee! That aside it has been a beautiful day. I went to the boot sale with
Darren early this morning, we had a sausage sandwich and a look round, pretty chilly that early and not a lot of booters there today. But Darren spotted a really attractive lap tray and bought it for me, he got himself a pair of jeans as well.
Some bird supplies were delivered while I was away and I got them down into the greenhouse and store. Bit of sorting, bit of washing and bit of cooking plus catching up on a program called Piano which I really enjoyed. Now Pandora is nudging my hand wanting attention!
Hopefully I will have more to say tomorrow.

Travelling again and very tired!

Anya picked me up this morning and we had a while together before she took me to the station. I was booked onto first class on the first train, not as exciting as I thought it would be. Very crowded and she did come along to take food and drink orders until I was about to get off! Second train was less crowded, a picture of the countryside and some of the bridge, tried to get both towers in today.

I have been tired all week and by the time I had bused home I was shattered. So very unlike me I went straight to bed and was there for a couple of hours with a happy Pandora on top of me!
Still tired so won’t be late to bed.

Couple of visits

This morning I caught the bus into the city, had been going to go straight up to her where Rachel lives but the bus I caught only went to the bus station. So I got off before we got there nd walked to the Cross Keys office to hand a letter in. Then I walked a bit further to a stop where I could catch the bus ot Rachel’s. A bit of a walk to her house then nd she was able to take a break from her work for an hour or so and we had a proper chat over a cuppa. Then Skip gave me a lift to Central Park. I had lunch there as I was going to see Margherita but was too early as it was about her lunch time the cafe there is really nice now. I still had a bit of time so I walked to the aviaries which have been there since I lived in Peterborough. Almost caught recognisable zebra finches, a cockatiel obligingly came to the wire and didn’t get a decent shot of a budgie!

Took a shot of the play area as I made my way care home.
I had a good visit with Margherita although she was downstairs as her new room was being sorted out. A care worker did take us up to look but it was a bit chaotic as her bed had been taken into the room but the bigger one that was being moved out was still there. Nice size room though and when things are moved around it will be so much better for her. When I left I took the path round the edge of the park as ai thought there was an entrance near the bus stop, but there wasn’t! Did take a photo on the way though.
I did get to the bus stop but it didn’t have seats and there wasn’t a bus due for eleven minutes so walked slowly back to the bus station. Rose was out visiting her friend today so we had dinner and then a quiet evening.
I am going home tomorrow but no doubt will be down again before too long.

Tiny steps forward.

Went into the city again today with Rose, we had a drink nd then off to the bank. I have to say, if ever I decided to change banks I would definitely try Santander. The staff at the Peterborough branch are exceptionally helpful and we were able to set up another account for Rose with assurance that it would be as straightforward in the future. We had lunch before we came home and I was feeling that slowly we are getting on top of things,
I phoned Nora when we got home and went round to spend a couple of hours with her, it has been nice getting to see each other again after so many years. I hasn’t been a photo day today. The sky was pretty good as I walked home and I tried to catch a couple of shots but in the middle of a large estate it isn’t easy.

There was a lovely white hellebore on the way back.
When I got back Rose had heard from her mum who had been moved into a bigger room today and sounded really pleased about it, so that was great news. She couldn’t manoeuvre the wheelchair at all in the tiny room she had been in.
We have had a quiet evening, I have been ridiculously tired these last few days, feeling my age!

Back in the city and visiting my sister

This morning I caught the bus into town having arranged to meet Rose later at the care home, I went to the bank again and managed to get an appointment for us to sort an account out for Rose. I had a drink and snack in town and then took a slow, rather painful walk up to the park as the leg was painful again. Another walk with no benches in sight so I wandered into the cemetery in case there was one there, there wasn’t!

The sunken garden in the park has been stripped ready for spring and summer planting,
Some great trees.

I did leave Margherita and Rose together for a while and waited in the park.

We walked back into town, definitely more than enough walking for me again today!
We are having a quiet evening now.

Meeting and long walk!

This morning we had a meeting with a housing officer. Unlikely to get the desired outcome but she seemed interested enough to reassure Rose that they would do what they can to accommodate her. After that we went to the Orton centre for lunch and then got ingredients for pancakes. Wasn’t sure about the almond milk but was happy to give it a go! Another fun sign in the cafe!
Rose took the shopping home as she was going to visit a friend this afternoon, I decided to go for a walk. I decided to try and walk to Nene Park, asked several people which direction to go, most had no idea and those that did have an idea stressed it was a long way. I must have seemed a decrepit old lady!! Joking aside, it was a pretty long way and not a bench in sight. I wasn’t sure hat was the priority when I arrived, loo, sit down or painkillers!
After that I thought I would get to the Oundle Road and catch a bus, but none went along that end, so did another longish walk having to ask directions and eventually got to a bus stop to get back! Will just add lots of pics now.

Next photo is from that bridge.
