Happy new year!

A very happy new year to the one and all!
Didn’t take that one myself.
Had a quiet morning and did a bit of reading, then we went to Hornsea garden centre to meet up with Anya, Louis and Isobel. We had a nice carvery lunch, and it wasn’t too busy today so no ridiculously long queues like last time. Then a good look around the apartments, particularly the Christmas goods sale. Lots of chances to be a bit silly!
It was an enjoyabl visit and we left got some bits plus I have a few more bulbs to plant now as well.
Back home we had a couple of games, a dice game and Cluedo which was fun. Anya and family will try to get here to see Tina do the ‘big dip’ tomorrow.
Anya.s friend has a walnut tree in her garden and she brought some up for me to enjoy. Lovely to eat them straight from the tree so to speak and they are really tasty.
Sorry about the quality of that one!
I doubt I will stay up tonight but hoping everyone has a good new year.

Fun and games!

Quite a few photos and not a lot of text I think today.
Isobel slept well and late morning she Darren and I went to the beach. We bought some beach shoes at the dog walker cafe before we made for the sand. I had packed spare clothes and a towel in case any accidental soaking should occur! A lovely day but the water was icy!
I spotted the tiniest sand spider and managed to get this picture, the grains of sand look quite big!
One to prove Darren was there and Isobel wanted a picture of her handiwork.
We had hot chocolate on the beach and when we were dry we went along to the arcade and spent a hike there. We stopped at Crqfty Coffee for a snack on th way back.
I settled Isobel down with a film and some crafting and then I got on with dinner. Anya and Louis joined us for dinner and then we played Harry Potter Scrabble. After that I silly guessing who you are game with masks.
Tina and I watched Peter Rabbit when the family had gone back to their holiday home. A very cute, clever and funny film, we were. Laughing out loud. Nice end to a fun day.

Bridlington and panto

Anya, Louis and Isobel collected me about midday and we drov to Bridlington.after walking into the town and visiting a couple of interesting shops we had fish and chips for dinner, very nice they were too. Going to look at the sea we saw the pirate boat coming in, we thought about having a trip but in th end didn’t get around to it.
We went into one f the arcades and Louis practiced his moves on a dance machine.
We all won some tickets and Isobel was able to collect a couple small prizes.
The light was changing when we came out.
Then we had drinks and Isobel had ice cream!
We made our way to the Spa then wher we were gong to see Jack and the beanstalk. Nice shot of the sea.
Isobel got big hands for herself and me to get into the panto spirit.
The show was great fun and we all joined in with abandon.had my I turn taken with John Lions from A Touch of Frost, he played King Grumble.
Isobel got some sparkly cat ears befor we left, very cute she looked too.
All in  all a good day and Isobel is staying with me tonight.

Freeport and bugs

Have done this entry once with a lot of photos and do seem to have lost it this time. So will do a shorter version with less pictures. I walked up to meet the family at Freeport, we arrived about the same time. We did some shopping after a cup of coffee and after visiting a lot of shops, some looking and some buying we had some lunch. Then we went to Bugtopia. I took a picture of the bug hotel last week and can’t believe that I didn’t register this Santa spider!
Inside we saw a handsome spider.
Some stick insects.
Beautiful butterflies.
And a great macaw.
We came home and relaxed for a bit and then Darren, Tina, Anya and Louis all went off to Bridlington to see a show and Isobel and I did some craft and watched films.
Going to finish now and hope it doesn’t disappear again.

Early walk and family visit

This morning I went out early to post letters again and then went for a walk as the sky looked okay again.
The folly is clear now the trees are in winter mode.
I walked down to the sea and had a hot chocolate in the dog walker cafe. The sea looked different again and the tide was right in.
Walking back the sparrows were chattering away and I managed to get a reasonable shot of one of them.
I spent a good deal of the day preparing and cooking dinner for us as Anya, Louis and Isobel were coming for ‘second Christmas’. Did have a bit of a break and went out to plant a few more bulbs.
We all hand a good dinner together and exchanged presents, I was very spoilt. This puzzle was one of them as Anya does like to pick one that will challenge my endurance!
Just a few shots one of Anya and two of Isobel to finish.
The family have gone to their holiday accommodation now, we will be seeing them again tomorrow.

Boxing Day walk

Today the weather was brighter and I thought I would take a walk up to Freeport and arranged that Darren would come and meet me and have a coffee when I had finished shopping. You know me and skies and I was taken with the sun looking like the moon on my way up there. Was stopping and starting trying to get a decent shot.
I wasn’t sure when Freeport opened today and Tina said she thought it opened at 9.30 am. When I got there at just after ten the place was dead and the shops shut. There were a couple of other people who had arrived expecting to shop and I discovered that it actually opened at 11 am. Wandered about for a bit , it was dry and not too cold so it wasn’t too bad. Had a coffee when the shop opened and then bought some clothes in a couple of shops. Saw another bug hotel near the bug centre.
I called in at the craft outlet and Mags and Carol were on duty. They had a good offer with dies so ended up getting some. Also signed up for a free class Mags is running as a thank you to people who have attended the classes regularly. Darren did come up and meet me and we had a drink and then came home.
Christmas dinner today so I prepared everything and got the meet in when we got home. I did about twenty minutes out in the front garden using the hoe before I got seriously cooking. We all had Face Time with Lee and family in America which was good and it was a lot easier than using Skype!
Full now after a nice dinner and not int nosing to do much!
