That’s all folks, for now anyway!

After eight years and a full iPad it is time to have a rest from the blog. Maybe not forever, we will see.
But have some photos and bits for today so here goes. Yesterday evening I started transferring things to the new to me sewing box, I really like it and it will be easier that pulling out little drawers!
This morning I mixed the next lot of Christmas cakes, I had measured everything out and lined the tins last night. They look lovely, I do think they may be extra special this year!
Once they were on the rack I decided to catch the bus into Hull, I haven’t been beyond Hornsea on the buses for a while now. I had a bit of a wander round and got some toiletries I needed and some quite interesting things to take snaps of!

That photo and the next one were in an open unit in The Prospect Centre, I think they are for a parade in August, which if the stuff they had in there is what it will be like it should be fabulous.
I saw a couple of the Hull puffins.

And put some coins in the hat to take a photo of this sand art!
I am well on the way with the latest Shetland book, and today tried reading on the bus and managed to for a while without feeling sick!
I have watered the bonsai trees and the tubs, maybe get the hose out tomorrow.
May watch the football to see who England will play in the final.
So, that’s it, maybe be back some time.

Christmas cake time!

I went to the shop this morning and got most of the ingredients I still need for the cakes but no black treacle or mixed nuts! Tina drove me up to Tesco and sat in the car while I went in, took me a while as it is a big store, but got both items, and some Marmite crisps fell into my basket as well!
So I set two and made two of the smaller cakes, they turned out okay, I think they will be good cakes this year as I got all the dry ingredients loose from the Leafy dragon over the road.

The cakes are cool and wrapped now, will start the brandy feeds when they are all made.
Took this photo of the front bed as some nice flowers in it now and they have perked up since we had a dr of rain.
The new tubs that I planted up a few weeks ago are really looking good, I have kept them well watered.
And the calla lily is opening more daily!
I got a load of washing done today, but have also done quite a bit of reading, now on the fifth book of the Shetland series. Did go out and do a bit of dead heading in the garden and emptied the sack of mealworms into containers.
I have had some nice post this week, a card from Cheddar Gorge, never been there and would probably find the walking difficult, but would like to give it a try, and a great card with illustrations of spiders.
Time to make a drink before the football, ladies of course!!

Feeling tired today

This morning I had a catch up with Angela which was good and I got a package ready to send when I came home.
After lunch I decided it was time to have a bit of a walk so I took the package to the post office and then went up to sit by the sea.

I called in at the leisure centre to get some food caddy bin liners then was really flagging coming home and had another sit down in the memorial garden! These lovely flowers were there.
I had been going to call in to the Co-op on the way home and get the rest of the Christmas cake ingredients but just felt too tired and when I got I sat comfortably to sit and read and did doze off!
Have been to see Sarah and David briefly this evening and it rained when I was there, so no watering tonight which is a bonus!
May start watching the debate, may not stay with it all the way,

Donny meets Ronny!

Will start with Donny and Ronny to save you from guessing! Yesterday at the garden party there was a tombola, I won a couple of prizes, one being a box of mini Toblerones. Tina won a cute rabbit so we swapped prizes, the Ron came from the middle of Toblerone, lengthened to Ronny for fun!
This morning we went to the boot sale as usual, have breakfast from a different stall as our usual one was closed this week. Darren just bought a little permanent for Tina for 20p and I had walked all the way round and bought nothing but had seen a chair I really liked soon after we started. Thought it would be pretty expensive so nearly had the guys arm off when he said it was a tenner. I really liked it because it is similar to my two front chairs.
The calla lily is so happy now that the roots can spread, so the buds that looked almost dead have now started to open.
I have gone a bit out of sync S we had a drink by the sea on our way home as we weren’t at the boot sale long today.

I have finished the book I was reading, great novel but horrible ending as the main characters fiancé became the third victim in the final chapters!
We watched the Grand Prix but before that I have walked through the fair as Tina had left her iPad behind and she needed it for the music for a service in the park.

After the Grand Prix Darren and I walked round to the fair and I had a go on the hook and duck and hook a bag! Two more silly toys, Tina will have the flamingo to keep another one she has company and the bear will sit with the rabbits!
I will finish with a photo to make you ‘tut’, Pandora approves of the new chair!

Carnival weekend and tea in the garden

Quite a full day, some shopping this morning and then helping the fold from Skipsea getting ready for the charity event in the garden. I took a break to go into the spare bedroom and take some photos of the parade going by. The French windows open and Pandora likes to investigate the top of the porch. The pictures also show the people waiting, sitting on the public sitting wall!

The ladies were getting scones buttered with cream, jam and strawberries while others were setting out the tables and chairs and getting the tombola ready. I was helping out and sat at the table to sell people tickets for a while because Tina had to go round to the parish hall. Some fair folk had open a window and the lock of the door to attach their hose to the tap in the hall so that they had water at their caravan! So the hall was unsafe! Steve and Keith would the hose up and took it back and the owners denied breaking on! Hopefully the security cameras have clear images! Just too one photo in the garden, before it got a bit busier. It wasn’t overly busy but I tried to go and talk to all the folk that came in and they enjoyed sitting in the garden and the scones were delicious!
When we had finished clearing up and the workers and visitors were all gone I sat in the walled garden for a bit. Blue doesn’t often sit on laps and obviously wanted to come onto the chair with me, so I move across as far as I could and she squashed in beside me for a bit!
If I have the energy I may go and take some photos of the fair when it gets dark!
