New gravel time!

I went out pretty early to carry on clearing the final area, I was there when the gravel men arrived. They did scraping and clearing with a digger, later a large lorry arrived to bring the first lot of gravel and then remove all the scrapings.the driver was back and round the driveway with these large vehicles and didn’t hit any of the edgings. Won’t t post too many pics. I did keep them supplied with tea!
Then one when they were nearing th end of their work.
I managed to clear quite a big area over my three sessions. Filled the pink container with roots etc again and trod and hoes it a bit. Will need to be dug over again but it is getting there. I must have dug up hundreds of bulbs, have them in the trig for now!
I went to Freeport with Tina and her friend Lynn where we had a lovely lunch. Then we went to the shoe shop and craft outlet. I had taken my 3d embossing folders so that the girls could run some off. So Tina and Lynn went off and I walked home after spending a pleasant half hour or so at the shop. When I got home I took a picture of the finished driv.
They worked very hard and did a fantastic job I think.
Will probably do a bit of crafting later whilst enjoying my new cello cd.

Hornsea is getting ready for remembrance

This morning the weather was miserable but I did manage an hour outside on the bed I started yesterday and filled another pink container with roots. Then I came in and made some more cards and I also mounted up the two I had coloured yesterday.
I decided to catch the bus up to Freeport, had a nice chat with Mags and she showed me a card she had made with a rose stamp set they had in the shop. It was reasonably priced so a I bought one. At the bus stop the poppies have started to appear, the town will be festooned soon.
This evening I did make a card with the rose stamp, also using some special tape for masking, it comes off the card without damaging the surface.

Better weather for gardening.

This morning Tina and I went to the vets with Blue, not poorly just time for her injection booster. We had to hang about for a bit but the vet was lovely when we did get to see her. Tina went back via the surgery as I wanted to make an apppintment as I have a niggling pain which isn’t getting any better. I went and did a bit of shopping then went out to get on with edging one of the beds in the front garden as the man is coming to put the new gravel down on Wednesday. Hit some of the roots again, so a picture of before, after and roots!
I finished that edging after lunch and then went straight on to work on the piece of garden by the front wall. That is the only area that hasn’t yet been worked on. If I thought it was rootfest on the first bed, then I was in for much more of the same. A picture of the area I dug, which doesn’t look a lot, and the pink container full of what I removed.
I was just settling down to do some stamping when I noticed the sky, did go downstairs, not the best but quite pink!
I did a bit of stamping, realised I haven’t got a black ink pad so will get one. Used the pearlescent water colours to fill them in.
May try to get on with that last area tomorrow, see what the weather is like.

Very cold, winter is coming!

Darren and I did go to the boot sale this morning as it was bright and the rain had stopped. Very cold there in the wind, not many stalls at the boot sale but we had our sandwich and looked round. My bargain of the day today was this fabulous marble rolling pin on its stand for £1.
We had a quick look round the market and I got some stuff from the nutty man and we came home. I wasn’t in the mood for gardening so got the pyrography pen out, must be well over a year since it has been used.will put a before and after picture of the items.
When Tina came in we ent out to use the leaf blower/hoover. I didn’t take a picture of the lawn before we started but will post one of it after and of the sacks full of leaves. A successful hours work!
Strictly results tonight, nowidea who will go, and the Grand Prix, will Lewis secure the title tonight?

Wet, cold and windy day!

Today it has been wintry so no garden work. I walked along to the monthly town market early, it was very rough out and one of the metal stands that hadn't been set up took off and missed me by inches. The workmen had been busy outside the museum, money has  been donated for a few tile installations in the town, this is the biggest one.
Today I have managed to do some craft, some Halloween cards.
I also cut out a piece of the glittery red card to fix behind the robin die cut. then I made the Christmas scenes I had waxed into cards.
It dried up a bit so I took a walk along to the sea front, had a hot chocolate there. The wind was strong and it was pretty rough but looked good as always.

Watching Strictly, great costumes and some fantastic dances.

The delivery arrived!!

Yesterday I finished the latest boxes and frames, wasn't sure about them in artificial light but happy with them now they are in natural light.
I also played with some gnome stamps that were a free gift. The ink was a bit blurry and I couldn't find my fine liner pens so used some oldish felt pens. But they are fun and I will have another go with better materials.
This morning was a 'Groundhog Day' moment when my delivery was cancelled for the third time for the same reason. I emailed the company and said if it didn't come today they could cancel it. They phoned me almost immediately and said they would make every effort to get it to me today. I kept the phone in my pocket and went out and did a bit of work in the garden. I split a few plants and put them in the front garden then cleared and hoed the original bed in the back as it had gone rock hard. It has been pretty neglected because I have been working on the front and new areas in the back. I got two phone calls to say the bins were definitely coming today, I didn't get my hopes too high. But it did arrive, unbelievably heavy but the guy did get it upstairs for me. Very well packaged and I should have taken a photo before I struggled to get it in position.
There was no bracket inside to hook the bags into so thought I would try and get some stick on hooks to put inside.
I told Darren I may go up to Freeport and he offered to take me. We had lunch together up there then he went home and I called in at the craft outlet. Abi was on and is much better now, she had been really poorly. I went into the Poundstretcher shop and found some stick on hooks, then I walked home. Hadn't worn a coat so it was a bit chilly, but I missed the rain shower which was good. Called in the Gift Shop and the otter I have had my eye on was half price!
The hooks work to hold the bin liners and I really do like these bins, which is good as they were quite expensive and took a while arriving!
I have been playing with a couple of die cuts, the robin that Tina bought for me and a spiders web that I sent for and it arrived today.
So much craft stuff around, need to clear some away!

Another busy day, on a roll with the gardening!

My delivery was cancelled again, same reason, I was not impressed. I emailed straight away and within minutes received a phone call. They tried to sort it for today but apparently it is definitely going to arrive tomorrow. Won't hold my breath on that one.
I had to do a bit of touching up to the painting of the boxes, daylight shows up where you have missed a bit. So the project is ongoing. Tina got me me boxes and other crafty stuff at Hobbycraft yesterday, so had better get on with things.
I worked in the front garden this morning, hoed all round again and them must have put in a hundred or so small bulbs. Didn't do them individually, scooped out channels and put loads in and covered them, I am sure some will grow!
I finished off the two jar lids and the other day I bought some led lights to go in them. Two photos as the lights on make it difficult  to see the tops.

I went into the town and had a pensioner fish and chip dinner deal, very delicious trifle for dessert.
This afternoon I got on the with the third job that I didn't get around to yesterday/ We have a tree stump which needs to become a bit more of a feature.
I must have dug up about thirty bubs, I put them on one side and planted them again when I had finished. I also planted some ivy in the stump.
I had a cup of tea in the summer house before I packed up for the day. no real colour in the sky tonight but as I went down to look a shot of the church again to finish with.

Busy day

I intended spending the day in the garden but did stick some things on boxes before I went out there.
I planned to try and work on three areas, but only did two of them so will just to the 'befores' and 'afters' of the two I actually worked on.

That is the bed with the fruit bushes in.

That was a gourd bed.
I did have several breaks and had drinks sitting in the summer house. Spotted this robin and took it from inside. Never seen one fluffed up like that before, so very happy with this picture.
I decided to remove some leaves and tidy up the first flower bed I prepared, also watered it as the flowers were beginning to wilt.

Quite weary this evening but had to go downstairs again when I noticed the sky!

My delivery that didn't arrive on Friday is due to be here tomorrow, fingers crossed.
