Trip to Burton Constable

I managed to write the rest of my cards this morning and had got some packages ready to go last night. Tina and I went to the post office and got things sent off and Tina collected a parcel and then we set off for Burton Constable. The house is open for a couple of weeks decorated for Christmas so w went to take a look before it closes for the season. A beautiful day today if a bit chilly. As we were entering the shop to get out tickets we saw this very original Christmas decoration, there were a couple more in the same fashion around the house.
The house is lovely anyway and seeing th different decorations was interesting. The volunteer guides in each room and helpful and interesting, but not pushy. This tree has decorations made with bay leaves. As we have a large bay tree in the front garden I think we may be having some next year.
There was an area of different decorations in a window seat and some interesting use of old books.
The hall was as impressive as before. Just imagine having that area as the hall!
The sleigh just had to be sat in I am afraid, not that Tina could b convinced!

Away from Christmassy things the story of this chair was fascinating. It is an exercise chair where you just sat and bounced up and down, a bit like the effect of riding on a horse!
We loved this feature in th child friendly room!
One of Tina by the largest tree.
We were making some purchases at the shop when I noticed the sky, so nipped out quickly.
We had lunch before we looked round the house and tea and cake before we left, all in all a lovely visit and we found a picture that Tina liked so it made a good birthday present.
Tina drove home and detoured so that we could look at the sea from Mappleton, it was very beautiful.
We called in at Freeport on the way home and I had to get Tina to walk down and see the delightfully naff nativity lit up in all it’s glory!
A lovely trip out.

  1. Wow, that all looks very nice. Although I didn’t really have decorations myself, I do like to see a place nicely decorated. The bay leaf decorations and the folded paper stars are particularly good. You’re thinking of Christmas next year already and this one still hasn’t happened yet. You’re keen 😀
The bouncing chair is a new one on me, not seen one of those before. Looks fun though.
A really nice place. I can see why you were keen to go again.
Love the sky shot. It looks great through those trees. Nicely spotted.
A trip to the sea too, what more could you ask for........apart from a naff nativity that is? 😁

  2. I was pleased I got to see the house at Christmas, it is a great place and I will check out sketching next year. Some great ideas for home made decorations.
That chair was in the long gallery which is where the ladies could exercise without going outside.
Then sky and sea and nativity!
