Christmas Day

Darren and I went along to midnight mass last night so we were all late to bed. Tina was up and out by 8.30 am to go to Atwick and then St Nicholas’s for Christmas morning services. It was a dull day but I went for a walk to the sea, not a bit like yesterday.
I went down to walk on the beach for a bit, a few people about, mostly dog walkers.
That view was just a bit different. I made my way to the set of steps, the steps along Hornsea beach to get to different sections are certainly not safety conscious or elderly friendly!
And this is what greeted me at the top, luckily they weren’t too slippery....
I had taken a drink in my small flask so found a bench and just sat for a while, although it was dull it wasn’t too cold out.
We had dinner this evening and for dessert it was the birthday cake, Tina and I had bought this ‘musical’ decoration for the top, Darren and I did sing along.
It was still playing over an hour later when Darren dismantled it in desperation! The ingredients for th cake had made it seem that it would be sickly, but in fact it was rich but not overly sweet.
It was a lot of messing about but in the end it turned out to be a success.
I enjoyed the Strictly special and have just watched Call the Midwife.

  1. The sea definitely doesn’t look very inviting today. Damn cold too I bet!
Those steps and rocks don’t look like they’d pass a health and safety inspection. Treacherous really!
The cake looks really sickly in the first pic and the decoration is very unusual, but I have to say that once it was cut it looks very nice. I’d risk a slice of it 😊

  2. It wasn’t that cold walking but I didn’t check the water temperature!
I almost didn’t go down the other side of the steps but the stones were surprisingly stable under foot.
Not is a mad rush to make the cake again but never say never as it tasted pretty good.
