Catching up

After breakfast Tina and I set off for Eye, we had a coffee at Van Hage, still such a lovely garden centre. Some nice displays.
Those reindeer were moving there heads and were adorable!
That was just fun, especially the mole. Then Tina took me to The Spinney so that I could visit Emmie, an elderly friend and she set off to see her family for the day. Had a drink and good chat with Emmie and gave her the Christmas cake, then I walked into the village to catch the bus into town.
I walked through town on the way back to the hotel, loved the tree in the market square.
When I got back to the hotel I ordered a taxi to take me to my sisters. When I was in the taxi I got a message to say my taxi had arrived and it wasn’t the one I was in! Oops, I got ther anyway and had a nice time with my sister and niece and had a game of Scrabble. Had to go outside to take a Peterborough sky shot for a change!
Anya collected me and she and Rose had a good chat as they hadn’t seen each other for quite a while. Then had fish and chips with Anya, Lewis and Isobel and we played a silly game where we had to try and throw inflatable hoops onto th antlers on Isobel’s head!
Relaxing at the hotel now, going home tomorrow, hopefully ahead of the forecast bad weather.

  1. Van Hage do have some good displays. Like the reindeer 😀sounds like you’ve had a pretty full day. Glad to hear Emmie is still fighting fit. The church always looks odd to me. When I was a lad, many years ago, it had a proper spire. Shame they took it off rather than fixing it.
I think I’m getting very nostalgic, as I used to like seeing the proper tree all lit up on the square. That one does look ok though. I knew you’d get a good sky shot while in town. Puts me to shame 😀
I really hope you manage to outrun the bad weather tomorrow as the forecasts are getting worse. The sooner you’re both tucked up inside the vicarage the better!

  2. A good day, plenty of talking when you see people after a good while. Nice to look round Van Hage, used to go there a lot.
Hope the journey home goes okay.
