More baking!

It was grey and wet for a good part of the day so I decided more baking was in order. I made a couple of batches of cheese scones, the first batch were bigger so I didn’t make many so used a smaller cutter for the second batch.had to try one of course, they are crumbly but tasty.
A while ago I got some dividers so that you could make half and half muffins. So, with my new muffin tin at the ready I mixed up orange and chocolate sponge mixtures. I only had six dividers and to be honest it as as easy to do them withought the dividers which were a bit messy to remove. They taste okay too!
I put the rest of the mixture into a sponge tin. I did put some icing on the top after I took this photo.
That was enough baking for one day and there was a lot of clearing away needed.
This afternoon I caught the bus up to Freeport as I had forgotten to get another set of storage containers for the kitchen yesterday. Called in at th craft outlet and Abi was on duty, so had a cuppa and nice chat with her as it wasn’t too busy. I got my storage containers and then walked home, it had stopped raining by then and I do need to try and keep the steps up!
Off to Scarborough tomorrow, Darren has a club meeting and I will enjoy visiting my old haunts for a couple of hours, although I am sure the tow will be very busy!

  1. Oh my, they all look very delicious! I’m sure Darren and Tina love it when the weather is as it keeps you in the kitchen baking treats 😀 It’s good that you’re back into your baking now as I know when you had the low gas pressure problems in Scarborough you were ready to give up forever. That would have been a shame.
Sounds like an almost easy day for you tomorrow, which is good. A bit of lunch at Sainsbury’s and a wander around Scarborough is a good plan. You should try to have a slice of that giant lemon merengue in the nice little cafe while you’re there.

  2. They were huge, enough for at least two people!
Have quite enjoyed the baking today, the temptation to try it all isn’t so good though!
Fingers crossed it is dry tomorrow, quite looking forward to a wander round Scarborough even three days before Christmas!

  3. Chefs perks getting to “test” everything 😊
I have to admit the apple pie in that cafe was enormous too. I struggled a bit to eat it all, but I’d definitely give it another try!
