Sea and wildlife!

This morning I went to the post office again to collect the package for Tina. Walked up to see the sea after that, my legs are still not right but better than they were.

When I got home the sun was still shining and the bushthatis now flowering in the front bed looks fabulous!
I took some craft out with me and went into the summer house for a while this afternoon. The miniature pampas grass is almost fully open now.
I took the camera out, hoping to see some birds, threw some extra food down too! The female or juvenile blackbird came quite close.

Some lovely shots of a chaffinch.

Then a young blackbird.

This squirrel was digging up nuts it has buried. These were taken through the less than clean summer house window!

Quite a lot of the tan colour on this one.
Haven’t taken a decent spider photo in a while!
Last photo for tonight, I did some stamping to colour in, chose the wrong colour to stamp with and not too happy with the results.
Went to visit Sarah for a while this evening. Going to watch A Confession now!

Taking it Easy!

A short entry today. Apart from going to the shop I have been indoors, it has rained on and off most of the day. That is not the reason, or at least not the main one for not gardening, the pain in my legs is still pretty bad so have kept the walking and standing around to the minimum. I did do some baking while I was getting dinner, but sat down when I could. We had been left some cooking apples so I made pastry for pies for a change, I usually make crumbles. And I made a sponge which turned out okay again.
Tina is visiting a friend tonight and has taken one of the pies with her.
A final picture of the arm, nearly a week since the mishap now and it is fading in the middle. Will go and get the flu jab this week, let’s hope that goes well!
Have changed the bed and done some washing, but other than that nothing much to say.
Looking forward to the Strictly results show and hopefully will have a bit more to say tomorrow.

Bit of a struggle!

Last night Tina and I went along to the Comedy night at the Floral Hall. It is held monthly and includes pie and peas. There were three acts, all good,  it the headliner particularly funny. A good evening and not a late finish. I took this picture before the fun began, not the best but it shows it was well supported.
Last night I had niggling pain in my better knee and have had a really troublesome day with the knees today. I have left the bike for today and will probably give it a miss tomorrow as well.
I walked down to the post office this morning, it begun to t down with rain and when I got there it doesn’t open on a Saturday! Got some nice meat at the butchers next door though.
When I got back there was a package for Tina that looked as if it could be my Brenda Hale inspired t shirt, but I waited until she got home to find out! It was, and I am chuffed with it! Even better that the sales from the t shirts has raised thousands of pounds for Shelter.

Charlie’s new favourite daytime resting place is my rocking chair!

Darren took me up to the garden centre as they had a 20% off day and Tina had seen some tea light holders that she wanted to get as gifts. We got them and a couple of other bits and had coffee and cake. When we came out the sky was really dramatic.
I haven’t done a lot else, tried to rest the legs, did visit Sarah and David for a while and caught up with there news.
Enjoyed Strictly this evening.

A puzzle for you and new furniture!

A friend sent this puzzle to me yesterday, the challenge is to find the camel! It took me quite a while but it is there...
The arm is looking pretty, difficult for me to take pictures with the phone left handed and of my own are, but will post it anyway, I think the bruise has stopped spreading now.
This morning I went along to the Living Well meeting, a tech surgery today so I made teas and cleared away and between that I did do a sketch of the ladies listening to the talk.
Darren and Tina went to Sigglesthorne garden centre for lunch and to look at the furniture that Darren and I had seen earlier in the week. This afternoon they had a delivery of a lovely eco friendly hall cupboard and the mirror like a church window that I posted a picture of before.
Then the men went and collected a fabulous step chest for me! I had commented to Darren that he could buy it for me when he won the lottery! It is fabulous, I am very spoilt, the only problem is that I really have too much stuff already, but it gave me a challenge.

That what-not needed to not be there, so I did a bit of rearranging and I think it looks good now. The what-not will have a new home or I will sell it at a boot sale.
I did get some weeding done in the front garden this afternoon and was luckily in before we had a really close by thunder storm.

Damp walk then sunshine

This morning I set out fairly early, I went to the post office and then up to look at the sea. Quite atmospheric today in the damp, not that I am complaining, nice gentle rain today.

On the way back I noticed that the pampas grass near the sea are just sprouting. These are well established plants, so the ones I planted this year are not that far behind and doing well.
I called in at a coffee morning and then bought a small plant to take to a lady I had seen yesterday. She gave up tulip plants for the garden last year and I have seen her in town a few times, I only found out yesterday that her husband had recently passed away so thought I would go and see her. We had a chat and drink and hopefully will meet up again.
Apart from doing some shopping I haven’t done much else, although did go to the church with Tina to be there while she had a wedding rehearsal.
The ornamental cabbages are doing well in the front garden and I liked the rain in the middle.
Although I have been a bit achy today I still used the exercise bike and managed twenty two minutes, so going up!

Nice walk to the mere

This morning I went to the URC hall and helped prepare and cook the Living Well monthly lunch for about thirty people. Quite an easy meal today so didn’t end up aching like I did last time. I stayed to eat with them and act as a table host as well and a man played the piano as entertainment afterwards. It had turned out to be a pleasant day when I was walking home so I decided to take a walk to the mere, feed the ducks and have a cuppa! Quite a few photos that are fairly self explanatory.

I had a bit of a walk round before heading to the cafe.

Different views as you near the cafe and boating area.

Lovely reflections and colours.
Bottoms up!!
A nice rural scene as I walked home.
I had a drink with Darren and Tina and then went into the garden and re planted some hanging baskets for the autumn/winter.
I did a couple more as well, need to start getting all those pansies I bought planted!
Have managed twenty minutes on the exercise bike again this evening, so all in all a pretty good day.
The arm is still bruising but it feels okay.

Rain and rest!

Firstly the arm after blood downing! It was itchy when I removed the bandage last night but not that painful, looks worse than it feels. The bruise is coming out nicely today and the swelling almost gone.

I think it will spread a bit yet.
I walked to the shops this morning and then up to the cafe opposite the mere as the lady there is closing this week. I have only been ina few times but said I would call in this week. She owns the building and another lady is going to rent it and set up another cafe soon.
Back home Charlie made himself comfortable on the settee.
It has rained on and off today. Did brighten for a while, but was good to have the rain, could still do with more! Went with Darren to Freeport for lunch as Tina is out all day until later this evening. We went into the Gift shop as there was a sale, Darren bought me two little things. The springy bug is silly but cute, the stress ball is not for stress but for me to exercise my problem hands!
I wrote a letter and went out to post it, walked back through the churchyard and all of a sudden autumn has appeared!

There is a group of flowers in the front garden that look very attractive.
I have managed to get to twenty minutes on the exercise bike this evening. Not sure if it is doing any good but I will persevere for a while.
Helping at a lunch tomorrow, not exactly looking forward to it but hopefully it will go well enough.
