New recipe and bird pics

I spent a fair bit of time in the kitchen today. Tina had brought a very large bag of pears home last week that needed attention. Peeled and sliced them and blanched them so they are now on the freezer for use another time. When I was in America Patty’s Mum Pat made zucchini bread which was really nice. Found a recipe and used my yellow courgettes, but will still call it zucchini bread as that sounds more exotic! I only had one loaf tin so made one cake shaped, both turned out well and it is really very tasty! Too tasty, especially with lashings of butter on!

I took the camera with a good zoom out into the garden and sat in the summer house, haven’t done that for a while now. I topped up the fat ball feeders and a lot of tits appeared and the robin. Will post a few, I think some are of Scruffy which is good to see.

One different bird appeared fleetingly, the picture isn’t great but it didn’t return. Will have to look it up!
One lovely dahlia that has appeared in the garden.
A couple more photos, yesterday at the shop I got some sunflowers greatly reduced. The other flowers were the survivors from the previous bunch.
And if you have good eyes and can zoom in there is a woodpecker on the dead tree! Only had the phone out there....

  1. Worthwhile time in the kitchen if those loaves are anything to go by. Hope you tried a bit while it was warm. Cooks privilege. I really miss a bit of baking these days. I used to love baking cakes. Trouble is they don’t really work when you try to make them for one.
Glad you found a bit of time to get into the garden with the camera. The birds all look fit and healthy. Suppose they should really as they’re very well fed.
The dahlia is amazing. It almost jumps out of the screen at you! So colourful.
I can definitely see the woodpecker. Not bad for a phone pic.

  2. It was nice to be sitting out there with the camera again. Was hoping the woodpecker would visit again but maybe one day.
    That dahlia is stunning.
I think I will be making int zucchini bread again!
