This morning Darren and I did go along to the boot sale as usual. I did buy some bits and may post them tomorrow as I have plenty of other pictures for tonight. When we came home we set off for Burton Constable and Darren’s archery session. I had a bit of a wander round before going to watch the action, met a really lovely artist who had an exhibition is the art studio. She works in textiles and embroidery, mostly freehand machine embroidery. She was happy to share methods and what materials and for me to take photos. Almost feeling inspired to get the sewing machine out.I had a short walk in the grounds, they have their mixed herd of cattle back and I love the big games for the kids, big and little to play on!
Really interesting reading about this ancient tree.
Plenty of evidence of rabbit holes!
Then I was off to watch the archery for a bit.
Soon over and time to clear away.
Will finish with a bit more Burton Constable history.
The fabric art and embroidery are really nice. I can definitely see you having a go at it. I think getting the machine out is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteI like the chess and drafts games. I’ve never played on one. You don’t see things like that about so often these day. Too many yobs to pinch the bits, or to climb beautiful old trees they shouldn’t!
Nice archery pics. They really show the concentration needed. Bows are so much more a piece of art these days than they were when I were a lad. Old stick and a bit of string for me! Out of curiosity, is there a reason why some of the archers have green shirts and some white? Hope Darren did well.
She really was quite an inspirational lady, and so ready to encourage other to be creative.
ReplyDeleteI think the ones in white have not yet become full members, people begin archery at any age.
Pretty good day and will think about getting the machine out!
