Early walk and walled garden clearing

Went for a fairly early walk, I had posted a letter and saw a sign to a play park so thought I would take a look. Beyond the play park you could see a bit of the mere, a good way off and of course behind barbed wire but may be worth a visit at sunset time. The play park is on a piece of public ground, the sign was quite interesting.

I walk up the hill out of town a bit and took a picture of this great bench that I had noticed when walking back from Atwick last week.
The main entrance to the park has a nice view.
I cut through the park and called in at the shop before coming home.
I thought I would make a start at tidying up the walled garden today, it has become weedy and looked jumbled. Some 'before' pictures.

Tina has started removing the weed retaining layer a while ago, I hadn't intended getting on with it but once I started there was no going back!
That took some shifting! I am hoping you will see that the walled garden looks much better now!

A lovely peony has appeared in the front garden, we do get nice surprises as well as endless work!
That was enough gardening, or anything else for today, didn't even have to water as the sun didn't make an appearance!

  1. Looks a good spot for some sunset pics. I look forward to seeing some. I do miss all those you used to get in Scarborough, and I never seem to see them here. The sign is quite interesting. Next time I visit I must remember to “take the waters” :-)
That’s a great bench, a bit colder on the bum than a nice wooden on though. It would actually look nice in you walled garden, which by the way looks really good after your days work. It was nice before, but even better now. Hopefully you’ll spend some time relaxing out there and reap the rewards, rather than working on it all the time.
I do like the Park. It looks so natural, which is probably a daft thing to say, but my park looks quite artificial compared to it. Think I’d enjoy walking around that.

  2. It is nearer to get to so will definitely make my way down there one sunny evening. The park is more like a heath and I know just what you mean about it being more natural.
Like you say, the bench wouldn't be that comfortable but it looks great!
Was pleased with the walled garden but sadly the weeds will soon start to appear again!
