Baby coots and evening sea

Darren and I went to Skirlington this morning. The boot sale was on but not a lot of stalls and a little disappointing. Cheap sausage sandwiches and drinks though. Walking to the market we saw these adorable baby coots (I did check they weren't moorhens), I have never seen baby coots before so not a disappointing morning after all!

I went for a walk when we got back and walked the roads that surround the park, that was a good start to the days activity.
Tina bought home a pattern for a jumper for the 'fish and chip' babies. The ladies at church are knitting these jumpers to go to mothers who have to wrap their babies in newspaper as they don't have clothes for them. I have been knitting one, it is quite clever, all one piece of knitting. Will take pictures of it finished and sewn up when it is made. So for quite a bit of the day I knitted and listened to an audio book.
After dinner I decided on another walk and made my way down to the sea. I usually go there in the mornings.

As I walked further along I was fascinated by the sun, now behind me, catching the waves.

Golden waves as Tina put it when I got home, beautiful.
Snapped this blackbird in a tree as I walked back.
This chimney had smoke rising from it, thought that was a bit unusual for this time of year.
Back to the book and knitting now.

  1. Disappointing boot sale, but good sausage bap and some coots. Sounds pretty good to me.
Fish and chip babies conjures up exactly the situation. A very descriptive term. Sounds like the ideal sort of pastime for Emmy and her mates.
You’ve really got into the walking now. Just popping to look at the sea in the evenings. Very good call though as the reflections from the sun look fantastic on those breaking waves. I’m guessing we’ll see more evening shots on here in the future. That camera really does catch some great lighting. Perfect for lower light shots. I really like the blackbird in the tree and the chimney. Simple, but very effective.
Car boots, walking, photography, books and knitting, plus a bit of cooking, gardening and other stuff. I think you live in a different dimension to me, where time stretches a lot further. Either that or I’m just an idle git! :-)

  2. I don't think I have seen reflections like that before so was very pleased I decided on the beach, I had been thinking of walking round the park.
The coots were so cute, moved quickly too!
My legs have been aching a bit the last couple of days but they are probably rebelling at the extra exercise!
