Garden headway

The three of us went to the garden centre quite early, two good reasons, get a drink before it gets busy, get what we need and make it back to Hornsea before all the holiday makers! I needed some canes for the sunflowers when I put them out, more pot trays so that the water doesn't just run away and more compost. We also got another smaller hose to use in the front garden as there is a tap out there as well. 'Angus' was on display at the checkout.
With No More Nails and waterproof tape we got one level of a raised planter assembled, the three of us at one point! It came with no instructions or fittings. It took over a large bag of compost but the carrots and some chard are not in there!
Tina put the brackets for the baskets up for me so now the conical ones are hanging either side of the mirror.
While I was panting Tina got busy with the incinerator!
After lunch I sorted out some little metal hanging pots that Tina reminded me about and have planted up the marigolds in them. Also put one in the bicycle pot stand which if you look carefully is on the seat,
I also planted up some herbs and in some  little plastic cauldrons  we bought I chanced putting the tumbling tomatoes out as they are both flowering and one has a tiny tomato already.
Darren went out so Tina and I had dinner and the garden is now watered, a reasonable amount achieved and neither of us spent too long in the sun.
Final part of The Woman in White tonight.

  1. A very productive day. Not so sure the bonfire was such good planning in weather like this :-) Lot of stuff potted, planted and hanging. Hopefully you’ll have stuff to eat as well as flowers to admire. I like the colourful little hanging pots.
I’m guessing Angus wasn’t for sale, otherwise he’d be sitting in your lounge now :-)

  2. Angus was very big, but no, not for sale as I would have made room for him!!
It has been a good day, we feel we have achieved something which often isn't the case when we have toiled away.
Tina got through a massive pile of garden pruning, and in the corner it was out of the wind and there wasn't smoke going everywhere.
