Tidying the walled garden - a bit!

This morning Darren and I went off to Skirlington, and it was a beautiful day and a very crowded market and car boot sale. We have never had to park so far away and it was absolutely heaving. The car boot covered a complete field, we had our sandwich and cuppa there today and it was fine and a lot cheaper. I managed to go round with Darren for about an hour and a half, but I think the recent increased activity is taking it's toll. There was still about the same amount to go again so I made my way back to near the bouncy castle and he said he would meet me there when he had finished. Luckily I had bought a little folding stool as there were no benches free. Darren was well over an hour still looking round. This picture is colourful but gives no idea of just how busy the place was today.
We didn't go round much of the market, got some vegetables for dinner and some oranges for Darren's packed lunches, then we found a different bakery stall as the stuff we got last week was disappointing. So with lunch bought we headed back and just about beat Tina home so I had the kettle on.
This afternoon it was too hot for heavy garden work so thought I would use the time to tidy the walled garden up a bit.

I got the paved area weeded and planted some things out of pots into the main garden, just did some weeding along by the bonsai trees.

The large tree that overhangs the walled garden is a sycamore and there are seedling popping up in the garden. I have planted up five into a mini sycamore orchard!!
We had dinner watching the final of the painting challenge program and then I watered the garden and checked the greenhouse. Will be watching part four of The Woman in White later.

  1. I’m not surprised the car boot was so busy today with such nice weather. Think I did the right thing by giving it a miss. It must have been very big if it took Darren 2 1/2 hours to get around it. I hope he found some bargains after putting so much time into it.
The walled garden looks huge in the photos. I don’t remember it being quite so large. Maybe it’s just the perspective, or then again it’s probably just my rubbish memory! The galvanised incinerator doesn’t look as though it’s been christened yet. It’s all coming along nicely, and a bonsai orchard is a bonus too :-)

  2. Yes, lovely weather, bank holiday weekend and all the caravan folk will be here too. Being so near seaside as well, quite a good weather magnet.
Your memory is fine, the pictures do make it look bigger than it actually is. You are right, the incinerator hasn't been christened yet.
