A lovely bright start to the day so I got ready to see if I could make it to the footpath that goes by the mere. Once I was at the Tesco roundabout I turned right and was on the right road then the cyclists went that way so there is still bunting around.
Looking across from the road you could see the mere, must be nice to have houses that overlook it.
This highly decorated little bike was still proudly on show.
Just before the entrance to the footpath a garden had these beautiful trees.
These signs were at the start of the path, there was one more but I would have been facing the sun to take it. Didn't go anywhere near the site as there was a notice saying stick to the footpath, more about that in a minute.
There was also this sign, I will show where it pointed to, hard to work out where the path was and the dog walker I met did not have his dog on a lead!!
Quite a few shots, I just walked through this field and back, the barbed wire fence stopped you getting too close to the water.
Walking back it seemed like a sparrowhawk had been busy, strange that the evidence was by quite a busy road as they take at least an hour to pluck their prey and usually go somewhere quiet and secluded.
This one of a little buttercup with two guests came out quite well.
When I got home I took another walk into the town, needed to get some money out and do a bit of shopping. Smashed the Fitbit target today!
I sat in the shade it the garden to have my lunch, the tree was making pretty shadows on the grass, the garden is taking shape slowly.
I had already planted up two conical hanging baskets, they had been in the greenhouse but thought they should come out. The brackets for them aren't up yet but managed to hang them on a tree for now.
Not colourful yet, but should be plenty of colour when the plants get established. I then got the fancy baskets out and got them planted up, balance on flowerpots.
I got them down but that was with difficulty so knew I would have to ask Darren to hang them for me. Tina and I bought a trellis type garden planter a couple of weeks ago which Tina had thought would look good painted. It has been in the porch so I got it out today.
Practically done, may not bother with the inside!
That was fiddly! After tea Darren hung the fancy hanging baskets back up for me, really looking forward to seeing those in full bloom.
Not planning to do too much more today, will watch Casualty in a bit.
A nice walk and some nice weather to do it in. I see what you mean now about the mere being very flat and blandish. Still a nice place though.
ReplyDeleteThe little bike must have taken an age to decorate, so it’s nice it was appreciated. I wonder if anyone else photographed it, other than the maker.
It’s so good that you’ve actually been able to make use of the garden now we’ve had a bit of sun. Bet it was lovely sitting out there with your lunch. I’m very envious. It’s looking really nice now. Even the stripes in the lawn help set it all off too. The hanging baskets should make really colourful displays once they get established. A lot of work had gone into it all, but it’ll be worth it. Then you can start all over again next year :-)
It has been a full day, this extra walking will kill or cure, I am hoping the latter is accurate!
ReplyDeleteIt really was lovely to sit out in the garden, but later while I was working out there the noise from next door was pretty bad, not a good sign for the summer months.
Garden is looking lovely very Jan xxx
