Walking, polishing and gardening

A grey day today but I set off for a walk down to the front where the mist was in and it was grey with a cool breeze.
Then along the Trans Pennine Trail for a bit over the dyke and down a path to the side of it.

The path led to the Tesco car park, I had tried to find the route to it before but now I know!
We had two very different euphorbia plants in the front garden, one brown and one green.

I have gone through nearly a pack of cleaning wipes trying to clean the banister rail, I sincerely hope the level of grease etc is years worth and not just us! Have applied to coats of beeswax and I know the grain and pattern are more noticeable but doubt it is something that anybody else will notice. But I know it is a little more hygienic now!
I have some tall plants growing in old sinks in the back garden and couldn't for the life of me remember what I had planted, but I think now that they are agapanthus .

Then out into the garden to carry on clearing the bed that had all the snowdrops in.
I did get my chair out and had regular breaks as my legs ache a bit today. Blue sat on me for a bit and then took over on the chair!
Dug out quite a few more snowdrops, so have them drying now.
I got a good bit of the bed prepared, to a fashion anyway, and planted some veg that I have had for weeks if not months and the rest of the gourd plants that I grew from seed.
Fairly good days work I think, may give gardening a miss tomorrow!!

  1. I don’t feel as though I’ve done anything today after reading about everything you’ve done! It’s probably a daft question, but how far can you actually walk on that trail? The closest I ever come to that sort of natural walk is around the back of the lake I sometimes go to. It’s a bit too far to get to every day though!
The handrail is a lovely bit of wood. Well worth the effort I think, but as you say maybe no one else will notice. Won’t be quite so hard to polish next time, if there is a next time.
Glad to hear you might be taking a day off from gardening tomorrow. You’ve done a lot of it lately. I think you’re due a break. It does all look good though. Put your feet up and rest your legs.

  2. The trail goes all the way to Southport! But that section is only half a mile or so and then you go on the road for a bit, but after that if is a long stretch I think, I walked along it a while ago when I missed the turning for Freeport. The start is down at the front so it makes quite a nice circular walk cutting back through Tesco's car park.
will maybe do household chores tomorrow or take the but to Freeport.

  3. See, I said it was a daft question :-)
Household chores don’t sound very relaxing. You should go with the Freeport idea.
