Quick trip to Hull

Friday is charity shop day, so after checking the greenhouse, that is see if the plants needed attention and check the door is still firmly stuck in place and not about to fall off! Nice day today so we had lots of stuff outside the shop to tempt people and both doors wide open. It was pretty steady and I manned the shop while the manager was sorting stuff out the back.
Came home and was arriving just at Tina was so we had a bit of lunch together then she had to make a phone call before we set off to Hull. I wanted to take up the offer of free prints that I got when I bought the camera and Tina wanted to visit the refurbished minster.
Tina parked up in a pretty central car park and we went to Jessops first to get my print order placed, there was enough money for me to get them on the one hour service. Then we took a fairly brisk walk to the minster, but I stopped to take a picture of this 'living statue', he was quite different as when anyone put money in his box he burst into a rendition of 'When I'm Cleaning Windows', or winders and it is pronounced in the song!!
Then we crossed over and I took a picture of the fountain, think it was icy the last time I took it.
A picture of city hall from a different direction and then of course on of the minster.

There were 'wave' water features in front of the minster and these ducks were happily there in the pedestrian area.
Some shots from inside, very beautiful and peaceful.

Tina suggested I posed for this one, looks like I am with a headless chorister!
A few more from inside.

Just imagine, that huge communion table costing four guineas when it was forged! Apparently the clocks on the tower are the largest four faced clocks in the country. Some churches had clocks that big but not on four sides.
The street fountains on the way back were steaming....
We popped into a couple of shops and then collected the prints and got back to the car. The journey home was much longer because we hit the Friday evening rush hour traffic.
Was quite achy when we got back, have checked the greenhouse and trees and don't intend to do much else. Have I Got News For You tonight which still has be laughing after all these years.

  1. A busy morning always deserves an afternoon out. Not a sedate outing from the sounds of, more of a brisk one. But you got the things done you wanted, so that’s all that matters. The minster is a beautiful place. Perfect for a photographer with a new camera :-) I think the lower light level pics with the new camera are way superior to the old one, even though that was pretty good. I think the last pic was taken more for the handsome young man in the foreground than the fountain at the back :-)

  2. Not bad is he, but purely incidental!!
It was a quick visit but still interesting and we did both do what we went to do, so all good. My prints are fine so I can decide what to do with them now.
