Bus trip to Hull

A couple of pictures of plants in the garden to start with today. An honesty plant I can get near is forming seed pods. I do love them and hope that the clump in the overgrown part of the garden will produce lots as well.
We have had a really pretty fir tree in a tub out the front since we moved here, it is now forming gorgeous little cones.

I had a walk before I caught the bus to get my hourly quota of steps in, me, obsessed, what do you mean? The journey in was fine, just a single deck bus today. The bridge over the river that opens, but I have never seen it do so, was letting shipping through so we had to sit in the bus for a bit.
I did take a picture of the birds on the wall at the station before, but with the sunshine today it was obvious that they are coloured and look lovely.
I got a bundle of up to date bus timetables and my tickets for my next train trip to Hemel, had a coffee and then headed off with my list into town. Had a pretty successful trip and got everything on the list. Just three shots from the city centre.

I went to Subway for lunch, a long time since I have been in one and I had a lovely Veggie Delight sub and a cup of tea. Finished my shopping and made my way back to the bus station.
I know that rape seed, although great for cooking with has a very bad effect on people with allergies or bad chests, but in the sunshine it looks absolutely glorious. Did try and take some pictures from the bus which was going at a fair speed.

And one of Leven church because the bus stopped there!
I did a bit of weeding and a lot of watering before I had my tea, pretty good day all round and not so hot either.

  1. The honesty do look different there to how they end up. I think I prefer the end result. Looks like a nice sunny start to your little journey out. I’ve never seen one of bridges open in my life, apart from on the telly. Not that I remember anyway. I did recognise the birds from before, but they’re definitely worth another pic.
It’s nice living in a smaller community like Hornsea, but the big towns do have their advantages, like lots of shops :-) I really like the picture with the red flowers in the bed and the fountain at the back. Lots of things going on and lovely colours.
I’ve been thinking about the Subway rolls since I spoke to you earlier. Will possibly have one if I go to town tomorrow, assuming I don’t have Chinese leftovers to finish :-)

  2. I have never seen one of those bridges lift either, not sure how often they operate it, Darren or Tina may have an idea.
Looking forward to when the honesty pods get bigger and look opaque, they look great in flower arrangements
The subway was good, I used to have them quite regularly.
