Bit of gardening then evening concert

Not a lot to say today, I did go and have a quick look at the monthly market but not that many stalls, got a couple of cds for 20p each and then bought some tickets in the town for a tombola raising money for the First Aid Hut.
Spent a bit of time out in the garden but not all hard going. It was a bit tricky clearing the banked bed as I didn't want to get it all over the lawn! But managed and planted a few gourd plants at the top and some bedding plants along in front of the gladioli.
I tidied up the greenhouse and spread the giant snowdrop bulbs out, quite a lot and I expect I will dig up more yet when I get back to that bed!
In Lidl yesterday we bought a great tiered planter for herbs. I planted up the base and put compost in the second layer, one more to go on top yet, quite clever the way you balance them.
I found bulbs in the greenhouse which can still be planted in May so used a couple of pots and put one plant in the middle to make them vaguely interesting while we wait for the flowers to appear!
Sunflowers are shooting up behind those pots. One of the hanging baskets is beginning to look colourful and they all have nasturtium  buds now, I grew them from seed so it is particularly pleasing.
After dinner Tina and I got ready to walk to the URC to see the local young musicians, we were too early so walked down to the front, so a picture of the vicar by the sea!!
The young musicians were great, the youngest one was eight years old. Some of the older teens were truly fantastic. We walked home, after a murky start it has been a nice day today.

  1. I won’t say another busy day, because all your days seem to be quite hectic, well compared to mine anyway!
That bed looks really nice now. Quite huge too!
Took me a minute to work out the herb planter as I couldn’t make out the bottom layer to start with. That’s clever. Be ideal for strawberries too.
Really like the Rev by the sea. That’s a great pic!

  2. I thought that was a pretty good picture too, not sure what Tina thinks although she always lets me take one if I want to.
The garden in really beginning to take shape, still more than enough to do but it is feeling like we will get there and will be glad of the hours that have done into it!
It is a great planter, need to get some more herbs now, or strawberries!
