Natural beauty

Today has been a bit of a mix, as has the weather. Really warm when I went to the shop this morning then changing skies and some rain. I will put the close ups of some foxgloves first as I think they are stunning in their variety.

This morning I went to the Chill and Chat cafe in the parish hall. David and Sarah volunteer there and quite a few people do come in and everybody was chatty and friendly.
Lesley had been going to come round to do some weeding this afternoon but it started raining at lunch time. We will get together in a couple of weeks hopefully. It did dry up so I went out and against my own rules decided to try and make a start on the weed in the gravel! I had made a start when I took this picture, I was just working on the weed in the centre of the drive.
I spent about an hour, by then the knees were in rebellion and it was threatening to rain again, was also getting dinner early for
Darren this evening. It doesn’t look much but that garden trug is full from just that relatively small area.
A bit more natural beauty to finish with. At the boot sale a few weeks ago I got a plant and was told it was a different type of hollyhock. It is getting tall and has branched out and has purple flowers.
Two of the succulent plants on the rockery and about to burst into flower.they are fascinating with the trumpet flower stems.

Depending on the weather (and knees) I may tackle a bit more of the drive tomorrow.

  1. Some brilliant pics of the flowers tonight! Those foxgloves really are stunning flowers. Lovely colours too. I do like the succulent plants and would consider some indoor ones, but you know my success rate with flora! Might just have to make do with the pics of yours 😊
Glad you didn’t spend all day on that driveway. It does look way better with the weeds removed though. I really think you should make it a family thing. All three of you out there once a fortnight would do it. You could all laugh and chuckle about it while you were doing it 😊
I hope you got a free tea and cake at the Chill and Chat cafe considering you named it and made the logo!

  2. Getting double vision there!
The foxgloves tick all the boxes, beautiful, flower for a long time and the bees love them.
Most of the weeds did pull out with most of the root, but it will never be totally controlled. It is surprising the difference it makes.

  3. That’s weird. I actually looked at the entry after I made it just to check it was ok. There was only one copy there then.
