National Etch-A-Sketch day!

Wow, those were the days!
I was up at 5.20am, the inability to stay in bed just gets sillier. Needless to say I was pretty tired after watching the football last night and getting to bed pretty late. So another day of low activity. Although ai did make up for it a bit this evening and I did do some pedalling this afternoon. I did go to the shop and chemist this morning as I had a prescription to collect.
We did have a little rain today which was welcome as we missed the deluges. I had a walk round the garden to take some photos this afternoon as I hadn’t taken any today. A poppy first.
The cats come out with me and they looked like buddies, photos can lie!
The plants I put in the recycled garden cart had while flowers earlier in the year but now the leaves are changing colour and looking attractive.
This poppy plant is large and has quite a few buds.
The rockery from a different angle.
These Canterbury bells are a bit out of focus but I think it works anyway!
Then I went out into the front garden, these plants are just attractive foliage ones.
This is the first shaggy daisy to open, being a bit swamped by the triffid!
Talking of the triffid/giant sea kale, I will have to cut down the flowering branches tomorrow as they are breaking and looking a bit of a mess now.
This is a rather strange fuchsia and has grown about six feet or more tall in a couple of places.
An orange lily.
Finally the sea holly is just starting to turn mauve.
Tina has new walking shoes and is going away next week, so we went for a walk this evening and while we were walking she had put the car on charge,
Took a couple of pictures from further along the sea wall than usual.

We walked back to the dog Walker cafe and had an ice cream before having another short walk and returning to the car. Thought the sky was pretty while we sat and had our ice creams,
So made up for the lack of activity a bit this evening!

  1. I used to love the Etch A Sketch!
5.20am isn’t a good time to get up, specially after a late night. It wouldn’t be so bad if it were just every now an then, but in your case it’s becoming a habit! Hopefully before too long the limbs won’t give you so much grief at night and you can lay in until 7am 😊
I love the poppy pic. It reminds me of someone sheltering under their arms to stay out the rain. I know, I’m weird! The cats do looks like lifelong friends in that pic. Bet they didn’t sit like that for long.
You’ve got some great pics again considering you just walked around the garden taking them. Everything looks so green and colourful. Including the weeds no doubt! The rockery really has come on from when you first planted it. You should have more days of taking easy and just walking around the garden taking pics 😊 The shaggy daisy is lovely, even if it is swamped and crawling in bugs! The orange lily looks great with the water drops on it too. The sea holly is a great one to finish with. The area with the triffid looks like it needs a fair bit of love and attention. Don’t go too mad out there tomorrow!
Sounds like a pretty full day, and a nice evening walk, considering you didn’t do much.
All in all a great selection of pics this evening. You’re getting good at this photography lark 😄

  2. I enjoyed going round the garden deciding on shots for the blog. At least I don’t have to go far to get some reasonable pictures!
Really do intend to get some weeding done tomorrow.
