Slow photo day!

This morning I walked up to Freeport, probably not the best ide I ever had a one of my ankles was making me limp for a while today! I called I and had a word with Carol and Sal at the hairdressers as I passed. Isqt and had a rest a little while before I got to Freeport. Took a picture of the sky from there, as you do!
'
I did take one of the cemetery but it was out of focus! The bushes have been cleared a bit along Polly’s Path.
I had lunch up there, did some shopping in Pound Stretcher and then walked down through the site to catch the bus home,
Tina had been into the Open Artist Studio and bought me a lovely little piece of pottery with a couple of air plants in it.
We watched Qualifying and then I did sorting in the bedroom rather that clearing, although I did throw some stuff out as well. I had similar things all over the place, I now have enough watercolour pads I can find to last me for years!
I forgot to put a picture of a gin bottle that Tina bought back from Orkney for me, very unusual! She said the gin was good too!
Have watched some Olympics and will watch The Wheel and Casualty this evening.

Lucky lady!

Tina bought back some gifts from Orkney, I will have to think very carefully before I use the wonderful had pressed paper. The pig has a chocolate orange inside and the tea towel will be useful and I will look up the place where she bought it. She got the little bottle in a charity shop  in aid of a cat charity. She knows I love the geckos and lizards, it is very unusual.
This morning I went to visit Bel, I had given her a piece of calligraphy I had done last time I saw her and today she gave me a most beautiful paper weight which contained a piece of her exquisite lace making.
It has been a miserable day weather wise raining on and off all day. I went to the shop when I left Bel and have remained in for the rest of the day. Watched some Olympics and have done quite a lot of sorting of drawers, and going through piles of papers and magazines. Good job we have two recycling bins!
When I was sorting I found this doorstop, I don’t think I took a photo of it when we got it, and I cannot remember where it came from. Very cute though!
The shopping was delivered this evening and just relaxing now, although I did do half an hours pedalling earlier.
May try to get out for a bit tomorrow.

The cat’s out of the bag!

While Tina was away Paul see the patio slabs the she had bought some time ago, but I couldn’t put it on the blog as she does follow it and it was to be a surprise! She knows now so here it is.
This morning I went out to post letters and get something in for lunch as we decided not to go out today. These were on the reduced stand, I bought a couple of packs. I think they are scrummy, also low calories and healthy!
Have looked them up and you can get them on line. They had a few packs left so will go and see if they are still there tomorrow.
We watched the gymnastics at the Olympics. When I went to make a drink I noticed that Paul had arrived so made him one too. He has now started the laborious job of repairing and reinforcing the stone wall.
He found this shell embedded in the wall, we think it is an oyster shell.

After lunch I decided to go and get some gardening done. The beds near the summer house were getting overgrown and messy looking.

I did use the strimmer and clearing the beds I filled the huge garden truck.

I didn’t plant traditional sunflowers this year but we have a couple of self sown ones that have grown after falling out of fat balls for the birds! The are getting tall and one is opening now.
Pandora has been on my lap for a lot of the evening but has taken herself off now, my knees are grateful!

Super day in Doncaster

Anya and ai had arranged to meet in Doncaster and have a day together, catching trains from our respective stations. I had to catch a bus into a hull first and at 7.30am the town was pretty quiet.
We decided to explore in the town before going into the Frenchgate shopping centre. We found the town very interesting, the first thing we noticed as we came out of the station was this bike.
Lots of different streets with shops and eating placing, we did a fair bit of walking and saw some interesting buildings.

Very novel!
Fabulous interior in that one.
And some interesting street art.

Even a decorated building!
There was a market on today although not a lot of stalls but there was a food hall next to it with several independent food stalls. We had an Indian lunch, sour dough naan wraps. I had chickpea masala and Anya had chicken tikka. They were very tasty, we would go there again and try a different menu.
It began to rain then just as we were heading under cover into the shopping centre, so good timing. We had a good wander round and liked the large decorated elephants.

A selfie by the first one!
We went by the Make your own bear shop. I fancied making one, silly I know but they had an offer on, make and and get a second for £8. I love my rabbit but the experience was very disappointing, as apart from picking which animal you actually didn’t do anything yourself! Anya got one for Isobel.
Anya offered to buy ‘Donny’ some clothes but I said I would make her a tee shirt!
We made our way back to the station and as our trains were leaving at the same time we said our goodbyes Ian’s made our way to different platforms.
When I arrived in Hull there was a raging storm going on, full thunder and lightening. By the time the bus was moving it had quietened. Spotted this building, looks like a house has been plonked on a shop!
Getting weary now, but in a good way!

Memory like a sieve!

Emptying my bag this evening I found something else I bought at the boot sale on Sunday, and I was so thrilled with them! Such pretty little teaspoons and the six for a pound.
I held them as they really are dainty.
Today I have had another pretty easy day. Some household stuff as Tina is due home later tonight.
There is another plant in the front garden which is attracting the bees, really doing my pit for our honey making friends!
Lesley has hurt her back so I went round to see her and have a cuppa this afternoon. It was a bit hot for weeding anyway! Took a couple of photos in her garden.

When I was doing some watering I am afraid I can’t resist taking pictures of the bees!

I am going to Doncaster tomorrow to meet Anya for a few hours. Making an early start so have tried to get everything ready this evening.

A couple of memories!

Today has been relatively quiet, but mor of that later. I have put pictures from the Ghana trip fourteen years ago on the blog before. This memory came up today and made me smile. I did do some painting at the farm they had, well, more a large allotment really, but they wanted some images on the shed. They produced this crazy ladder for me to reach up higher! I was aware that health and safety hadn’t arrived in Ghana, but I drew the line at actually trying to  ladder.
The other memory is from three years ago and a very cute picture of Isobel.
I had an uncomfortable night and wasn’t feeling on top form today, so I have done odd jobs around the house taking breaks when I felt like it. Did doze for half an hour in the recliner at one point. After going to the shop I decided to blanch a cabbage from the veggie box, it was big and I didn’t want to waste it. We now have a bag of cabbage in the freezer!
One of the small sunflower plants in the front has opened, I too a photo this morning and another one when I was watering this evening!

I watered the front garden before going to see Sarah and David and took a picture of dahlia.
I watered the back garden when I came home and managed not to trip over the hose!
I did get some washing dried on the line today which was good, although I would have been happier if the rain had arrived!

Feeling my age!

I am very weary this evening, tired and achey and not inclined to do anything constructive! We went to the boot sale this morning and bought some bits and pieces. Darren got electronic stuff, he always finds something, I got a massage machine very cheap, it works, a new dish for the oven which I have used when getting dinner and some craft bits. A very unusual metal stamp, have never seen one before and it was only 50p so worth a punt!
Darren drove to the seafront when we left and we had an ice cream as it was actually quite hot.

After lunch I went out and did some gardening. The bed along by the fence next to Lucian’s had become very overgrown and tatty again. There are two parts, either side of a bush.

These stunning plants are on the other side next to the house.
The bed looks tidier now, but probably not for long!

The cats are never far away when I am in the garden!

Talking of cats, yesterday evening, Blue, who has never been a lap cat, decided to get on my lap when Pandora wasn’t around!
A touch of the green eyed monster I think, Pandora’s face was a picture when she came in and saw her!
I got dinner made, there is crumble for later. Decided I hadn’t got the energy to water the gardens and don’t want to be finding myself on the ground again. If is cloudy in the morning I will do it then.
I tried the stamp, had trouble getting a full print.I cleaned it and tried again and put a bigger pad underneath. The blue one is almost there.
I think it is quite effective as it is,
Have Pandora on my lap so will probably nod off…..😴
