Squirrel Appreciation Day

In honour of today’s special day I have taken a photo of the four squirrels I painted when I was going to the ceramic studio in Scarborough. These are permanently on display, two on the mantle shelf and two in the fireplace. I really like them, they make me smile.
We smile a lot at the antics of the squirrels in the garden, they scamper about, chase each other and dig holes in the lawn!
When I went out to feed the birds it was good to not be in the rain and have a gloomy grey sky!
A bit later there was some colour too.
I walked along to the post box before nine and the light on the church was glorious,
But the rain clouds were appearing behind it. On the way back I noticed that we do now have some snowdrops ready to open.
Tina was off today and we had thought of taking a walk by the sea. I suggested Mappleton. Then I got Tina working on a very complex numerical crossword which she was determined to finish! But the time we were leaving the rain had arrived and it was really cold, but we decided to go to Mappleton anyway. Interestingly we drove out of the rain so it was cold but dry up there. We did walk down the steep slope to the beach, that tested my knees, but it was my idea! It was a bitterly cold wind, definitely blew the cobwebs away!

I spent quite a while this afternoon doing crossword puzzles and watching out for a delivery of bird supplies which still hasn’t arrived. I did get a couple of books arrive this morning before we went out, will talk about those tomorrow.
I have made a start on the sewing of the quilt, a very small start. Firstly six triangles attached to six trapeziums, and then made up the first half block. Only twenty nine more to do!

I am almost out of obscure words for this month, so as the post is a bit longer today won’t add a word.
Need to pack all the sewing stuff away now and watch Death in Paradise later.

  1. Now there’s a day I can go along with. I’ve always liked the squirrels. Used to enjoy feeding them in the park. I remember you making those. They’re a great set.
Some nice pics today. The garden always gives some great silhouettes and the church seems to be bathed in light quite often. But then I suppose it should be really 😇
At least you got out for a while today to see a bit more scenery than you have of late. Good the rain stopped for you too. That does look a bit blustery. Hope the knees don’t give you grief tonight for going down there.
The quilt is coming along. Such a lot of bits to it! Another 29 of those shouldn’t take you long! 😀 Certainly keep you out of mischief.
    Enjoy your program.

    1. Yes, it was nice to take a few pics at Mappleton, a slightly more interesting bit of sea, with the cliffs and boulders.
I really do like the squirrels, a nice mould but I think I painted them pretty well.
Will probably sew some more half blocks tomorrow, or may just attach all the triangles to the trapeziums.
The program was enjoyable as usual with a few laughs.
