A quieter day today, but will tell you about the lots I won yesterday and also an update on one of them! I loved the little sewing machine, it came with quite a few other items.
A bit of cleaning and polishing to do but the machine itself is in great condition, It is very small.
It comes with accessories and I am pretty sure it will work, probably with a chain stitch. I also purchased a meat carving set, a silver napkin ring and a tiny marcasite brooch.
A close up of the brooch, it is very sweet and a lovely reminder of the day.

The update is that I have had a couple of calls from Hansons today asking if I would sell the napkin ring back to them as the lady who owned it was unaware that it had been put in the sale and she was very attached to it. I have returned it and they will reimburse my payment and the postage. A friend, Carolyn, is coming up today, we worked together at the hostel for the homeless over ten years ago. We haven't seen each other for about 8 years. She wasn't arriving at the station until 3.30 pm so I went up to the studio this morning and collected my ruby slipper plate.
Need to think of a new theme now! I met Carolyn, we got her booked in at the hotel and then had a wander around, having a coffee down on the south bay. We got something for dinner and had it back here, Carolyn has gone now but I will call for her in the morning. A bit of Sport Relief tonight.

  1. My favourite is definitely the sewing machine. It's lovely. I hope it does still work. The carving set is nice too, and if it cleans up it would be nice to use. Shame about returning the napkin ring, but the lady will be very happy, and you never know, Charles may write and thank you. Now that would be another lovely souvenir!
Enjoy a few days with your old friend.
Think the plate looks great too, and I'm sure you'll soon come up with another theme :-)

  2. I have never seen a little machine like it, even has the little cotton reels! I intend to clear the shelf behind the settee and have it displayed on there.

  3. That's a good idea. It'll look nice there. Have you actually tried to sew with it?
