Slightly longer walk

Went to the boot sale with Darren, had my sandwich and looked at a few stalls. I just bought a book by Ann Cleeves as I hadn’t taken one with me. I made a start reading it in the car while I waited for Darren.
I have spent some of the day on the latest jigsaw. It is an interesting one to do.
After lunch Darren was going to the gym, I said I would try to walk down to the hub and join him for a cuppa. I managed to get there in about twenty minutes and didn’t need to sit down in the memorial garden on the way. So that was good. It was very blustery so just took a photo from inside the cafe.
After tea Tina took me out for a drive to Mappleton, it was starting to spit with rain and the wind was bitter, but we did get out to take picks and have a little walk. The cliffs are still falling away at an alarming rate.
Resting and ice pack time now.

Quiet day

I did go to the shop this morning and have been down to the greenhouse a couple of times, but have not walked so much today. Have done the exercises and used the ice pack.
I finished one jigsaw and started another which is proving awkward with the edges.
Have started painting the dragonfly pot, very tricky.
Hopefully we will head to the boot sale in the morning,

A couple of visits

Have been in and out a bit today, to the shop early to get rolls for lunch, then to see Bel for a while this morning.
Darren was home in the early hours after a change in travel plans getting home as the plane was cancelled. He got me the perfect present, very good as he thinks I have way too many hats!
I have spent some time on the jigsaw, so it is well on the way now.
After lunch I went to see Sarah and David, I took the humming bird jigsaw for them to give to their friend Mark who likes to do really big and difficult puzzles.
Darren went to get us fish and chips for tea, and then I went to a short service ar church featuring Easter music. The pain in my leg has kicked in rather alarmingly, so feet ate up now and ice pack in place.

Lunch at Lily’s

Fairly quiet day, I have been very tired nd the pain seems to have got more obvious but probably because the numbness is wearing off. I removed the temporary dressing this morning and did have a shower, but I had some spare large dressings and covered it again for the day. I will remove it again tonight before I settle down. The shopping was due today as there wasn’t a slot on Saturday and after it arrived went with Tina to Lily’s for lunch. I have the delicious fish pie that is their speciality. We had a quick look at the sea of course.
I got another surprise through the post today and it included some gorgeous hand decorated chocolate eggs. They won’t last long!
Hazel sent me a jigsaw puzzle a while ago, I decided to start it today, going to be considerably quicker to do than the humming bird!
I had to smile when I went down to check the plants in the greenhouse, I could here a seagull and as ai got close to the greenhouse there were two, one with his head through the small gap where I had left the door open slightly yesterday. They moved off as I arrived and there was a pile which looked a bit like sick on the floor but then I realised it was a suet bird block for birds. A squirrel had obviously got through the gap, chewed through a box that  had the blocks in and pulled it out and had eaten some. The squirrels and gulls can be a pain but I love their ingenuity, I cleaned it up and threw it out into the garden for them to finish it off!
I have struggled a bit with the positivity today but will pull my socks up for tomorrow. Have done the exercises twice today but may give the third lot a miss!

Lift to the pottery studio

Caroline came to collect me and take me up to the studio today which was really kind of her. She drove me home as well after I had had a while painting, and she joined me today and painted a sample herself. I finished off the fruit gown I had at home and then started painting a gown as a sample but forgot to take a photo of that,
The teddy money bank I painted for Angie had been fired and turned out well.
I brought home a tea light holder that I really like to paint at home.
We had lunch when I got home and I did some errands along the road. Then I did the exercises, well, tried and sat and rested the leg.
Have done a bit of washing and couple of chores but have done a bit of resting as the leg is quite painful today.

First mow of the year!

This morning Simon and a helper arrived to do the first cut of the lawns, which were very long, tufty and weedy. The first mow was just to start to try and get them on the way to looking reasonable. So the two of them were working and luckily they were bagging all the cuttings into large bags to take them away.
While they were working I had a package arrive from Anya, the most adorable pretty small flowers and a ceramic pot to put them in. The pit is about three and a half inches high.
Yesterday evening I started outlining the levels on the fruit bowl.
The lawns looked a lot better when the guys had finished. I did make them a cuppa but left them ner the back door for them to collect.
Angela came for me at 12.15pm to take me to the hospital to have the ‘clips’ taken out. They really weren’t clips, they were staples and there just have been over twenty  and having them removed was extremely painful! But done now and another dressing on for twenty four hours as there as some bleeding . Went and had lunch with Angela afterwards and rested with my leg raised for quite a while when I got home. I have painted. Bit more of the fruit bowl but will post a picture tomorrow.

Cute gift and lunch with Sher

I have been a bit anxious about the leg so pleased that ai am going to the hospital tomorrow and can raise my concerns. The new ice pack is certainly good so that was worth getting. The post brought such a lovely little surprise gift, it was from Nora, a neighbour from years ago who was such a help tome last year when Iwas helping my niece.
I watered the plants in the greenhouse and then had a wander round the garden, it is looking good.
I went out with Sher, we had lunch at the cafe at Mappleton which was very tasty.
Have had a pretty quiet afternoon and this evening I won’t be doing a lot. Hospital visit tomorrow, wound cheque and clips out.

Better ice pack!

I sent for an ice pack especially for knees. It arrived yesterday evening so I did use it after a couple of hours but it wasn’t properly cold, but it does fit and has tow geo pads that surround a good part so of the knee. I have exercised three times today and used it afterwards, certainly can feel the cold so hope it is doing some good, although the leg still doesn’t want to bed very far! Actually the pain is different today, more aware of the actual knee, I am hoping it is just because the numbness is wearing off a bit.
A while ago a drew some grape vines on the fruit bowl. I just painted the stems, using the new brushes I got a while ago and they seem okay.
This morning I did go to the boot sale with Darren, enjoyed my toasted panini and managed to walk along a couple of rows. I got some little pig ornaments, I obviously need more  ornaments. The photo isn’t sharp but I can’t take a replacement as Pandora is snoozing on my lap!
I went back to the car and read my book for a bit, Darren had found the most fabulous plate for me, no need to explain why I was delighted.
I had some letters to post so did have a walk along to the post box. Bit more reading and resting this afternoon.
Will watch Death in Paradise in a bit.

Following orders!

Have done the exercises three times today, have to admit haven’t done three sets every day. Have iced each time I have exercised, not with the new ice pack yet as it only arrived this vending and is in the freezer as I write. The leg has been quite painful and still swollen, but will press on.
Darren carried some watering cans down to the greenhouse for me so I went down to water the vast array of seedlings and plug plants in there. The jigsaw is now back in the box, best of luck to the next owner!
Tina had to drive the new car to Scarborough this morning as when she took me to the hospital yesterday one of the number pores had fallen off! She wa not impressed. When she got back we got an early lunch as she was taking a memorial service this afternoon, after lunch I started painting the money box that I am painting for a friend. I was just finishing it when Darren came up to say we could have a trip up to Freeport and call in and see Rob at pottery studio. So I could take it up to be fired. The before pic doesn’t look a lot different to the painted as I used a very pale pink. Did some writing on the back.
So I did have. Short walk from the car park to the studio, but have decided to see off the walking a bit until the swelling goes down.
The Easter rabbit I had painted as a sample turned out really well and I got to see the coffee pot in blue as it hasn’t been collected yet.
I have made a start on the fruit bowl this evening, but it is feet up time now.

Way to go!

Was still a bit achey last night but I did manage to get a slightly better night, surprisingly I have managed to let Pandora still settle on me, she lets me move her to a position that is comfortable for both of us. She was well happy watch tv last night!
Bel came round to visit this morning and could see that the jigsaw was well on the way to being finished. She declined me passing it on to her!
I had a little walk along Newbegin before lunch. This afternoon Tina drove me to the hospital so that I could have my physio appointment. The physio was lovely and tested my quads, and getting my leg flat onto the bed but was concerned that I cannot bend the leg to 90 degrees. She did say that the swelling and the fact that the clips haven’t been removed yet probably was making it difficult. But she wants to see me gain in five weeks but if I am still not able to bend it after the clips are removed she wants me to phone and arrange a sooner appointment,. So fingers crossed I can get the leg bending better next week. She did say I should use the ice pack more regularly and the one they give you to being home is hopeless. I do have a couple of micro fibre ones and have ordered one that is supposed to be good after knee replacement.
I have done a bit of reading today, but have mostly concentrated on the jigsaw and can report that it is finished!
I won’t be doing it again and may put a health warning on it before it goes to the charity shop!

Bit of a struggle day

I have been veery tired today and quite achey as well. The bruising has now come out down the back of the calf and into the ankle, the thigh is fading a bit now. But I walked a long to the bank this morning. Tina’s old car was collected quite early but the new one wasn’t be delivered until after lunch so we decided to go over to Bemora for lunch. Wandered along to Countdown before coming home.
Read a bit and worked on the jigsaw. Tina’s new car arrived and she is pleased with it, not blue though!
I had ordered some plug plants, perennials, and I got Tina to take them down to the greenhouse for me as well as a stool and watering can so I could pot them up.
Got two dozen done and hopefully will br able to get them into the garden myself in a few weeks.
I did plant some courgette seeds and a lot of things growing out there now.
Tina has lent a hand with the everlasting jigsaw.
Hopefully Bel will make it round to see me in the morning and witness the puzzle well on the way to completion!

Bit more walking.

This morning I gad a letter to post and walked along Newbegin to the main post box. Quite a bit further than the traffic lights, burnt really not that far. But at the speed I went it felt like a marathon! If I had had cash on me I would have stopped for a coffee on the way! The magnolia in the front garden is opening well.
Did a couple of chores and then Angela arrived and we walked over to Bemora and had lunch. The meal was lovely but I found the chair there really uncomfortable so didn’t stay for a second drink. I pottered a bit and then went out again as far as the chemist to collect my prescription and call in at the Co-op to drop the soft plastic recycling off.
I got a lovely photo from Amya of Aurora still playing with her toy that I bought her at Christmas.
I have added a few more bits to the jigsaw, I would like to report it is getting easier, but that would be an exaggeration! I still intend to finish it though.
I was going to do some pottery painting this evening but Pandora decided to pin me down and I wa quite happy to comply.

Need to get out more!

This morning Bel had been going to come round but just before she was due to leave it began to rain, so we decided to leave it for now, and I will catch up with her on Friday all being well. When Tina’s meetings had finished I went with her in the car to try nd get the car washed. Not many garages seem to have drive through wash poles now, but we found one, so exciting and lots of pics!
Not sure if I have ever been through one before, very interesting.
When Sarah and David came round they brought me flowers, in a jug now.
I walked along to see Sher at the shop briefly when they left, we my go out for lunch on Monday.
Still trying to achieve the 90 degrees bend, maybe tomorrow.
Going to give up n the bed for now, hopefully a better night on the chair.
