A bright idea that seems to be working!

Yesterday evening I wired some of my hand made decorations and hung them on the tree. So far so good. So I wired a few more and left them on all night. Everything okay and nothing going bump in the night, so will wire up the rest and hope that all will be well when ai get it across to the church for the Christmas Tree Festival! Still haven’t really worked out how I am getting it there, but that is another matter.

I did a few household chores then went out to get a container full of the stone chippings I bought when I was out with Darren on Sunday. I got a sack full which is in the outhouse. I put some round the base of the twig tree, and then washed quite a lot ready to use in terrariums.

After lunch I caught the bus up to the garden centre at Sigglesthorne. I wanted to get some leaf sacks and to look at aquarium sand and see if they had any small, reasonably priced house plants! They didn’t have any leaf sacks but I got some sand and a small container of pebbles and four little starter plants. The rucksack was quite heavy when I was coming home. I had a long time before a bus was due so ai walked up to the village to see the church, took a picture of the sky on the way, as you do!

Took a picture of this row of houses, a blast from the past for Anya as they stayed there a few Christmases back
Will write a couple of letters this evening and listen to a cd that Tina bought back from Mirfield, it is the brothers singing Easter pieces and very relaxing.

  1. Well considering you nearly gave up on the tree in the beginning it’s come on leaps and bounds. It looks quite strong now and should hold all your ornaments with ease. I think it’s going to look very nice, and unusual, once you get the rest of the knitted tinsel (that still tickles me 😄) and the other ornaments on. Doubt it’ll fall over with all the Das and chippings in the base. Getting it to church should be fun. You may need the help of a big strong son!
That garden centre is like your second home 😊 Not a very big haul today, but a heavy one. Good exercise with a weighted backpack!
You say “took a picture of the sky, as you do”. Well it’s a shame most people these days walk around oblivious to how nice the sky is. They don’t know what they’re missing. They should try looking up instead of looking at their phones!
A nice little row of houses, a nice place to stay. Talking of Christmas, as you were! It’ll soon be that time of year again. Should be nice and cosy though, sitting around with no heating and no lights due to power cuts 😄
I bet the cd is really nice. Hope it doesn’t send you to sleep while you’re writing.

  2. Might give the cakes one last feed tomorrow and then think about getting marzipan. Have asked over the road where I got the cake ingredients and they may be getting some in of Friday.
The plant I repotted and chopped the roots of yesterday hasn’t wilted and died, so maybe it will flourish!
Quite looking forward to finishing the tree now.
