Ghana memories and a little gardening.

It is hard to believe that it is thirteen years since I had my two months in Ghana so I am enjoying getting memory pictures from Google Photos. Before I went I had thought people carry things on their heads was a thing of the past, but soon found the it is still very much the moment. This lady with her beautifully arranged and balanced peanuts was a great example.
One unbelievable day was when the children were going to be dedicated at a church in Accra, the capital. I was told there would be a coach as there were approximately fitful of us going on the journey which was over an hour. You can imagine my surprise when I saw the ‘coach’ we all crammed on along with food and drums! No health and safety issues in Ghana!
I went to the post box early again, just for a change, took this picture of the sky when I walked back.
I went to the shop for a few bits and spent a while this morning making cream of celery soup which turned out pretty well. Did a bit of gardening tidying a flower bed near the front wall. Lovely red rose on the garden now.
And a bee enjoying the thistle.
Went out in the garden for a while again this afternoon, some pruning and removing bind weed. The packers plants are looking quite spectacular, I have never had these flowering before.
The yucca is flowering now, only the stalks at the moment but it will have great white flowers before long.
May try a new drama tonight,

  1. I remember you being in Ghana well, and I remember all the pics you had. Didn’t get to see them online back then, had to wait to see them 😊
That’s a fantastic pic of the sky from this morning. It’s a great pic altogether. Very nice.
Glad you’ve not gone too mad with doing stuff today. All the things you’ve done would ad up to a lot for a normal person, but for you it’s a slow day! The garden is looking nice. Great time of year for making the most of it. Almost makes all the effort worthwhile!
Hope the knees aren’t giving you too much grief tonight.

  2. That picture did work well, predominantly sky with the buildings like silhouettes.
Ghana was quite an experience, one I am definitely pleased I did. It was hard at times but some really good memories.
We do have a lot of great plants in the garden this year, a lot of weeds as well but you don’t notice them so much when the plants are more established!
