Boot sale visit and more walking down memory lane!

Darren and I did go off to the boot sale just after 7.30 am, it was busy already when we got there. But we had taken masks, gloves and sanitiser so we were well prepared. There was a one way system to start with and there was just one person ahead of me at the panini stall. There was a roll of paper towel and sanitiser so Darren did the table and chairs while I got breakfast, we walked the whole site, the lanes between the stalls were wider but when it hgot busier we did use our masks. We had a really nice hot chocolate with cream before we came home. I got a few bits, the bonsai dish was a great find and a couple of plant pots to decorate are good, Darren got a lovely blue brandy glass for Tina and got himself a really good swivel chair for his man cave.

Apart from a bit of tidying and getting dinner I haven’t done a great deal today, but have got more Ghana memories, I am enjoying getting these pictures again, it is an experience I don’t want to forget. On the equator the nights were long and our electric was more off than on! So most of the time we had no light or fan and sat under our mosquito nets with a torch!
I didn’t see a lot of wildlife when ai was in Ghana as most of my time was spent at the orphanage or at schools and a farm painting things on walls, but I did like to see the vultures when we went to the nearest town. I painted this trip on my bedroom wall in Peterborough!
The roads there have large gullies at the side to cope with the tropical rain storms. One of my more painful memories was falling off that piece across the gully when trying to get in the back of a taxi and falling in, it was pouring with rain as well! I was well scraped and bruised!
Had a wander round the garden earlier with Tina and this plant, now open, looked stunning in the sunlight.
Best get back into that garden and do some work tomorrow!

  1. Im sure a lot of people decided to get out and go to the boot sale as it was a nice day. But as long as you were both sensible and took precautions that’s all you can do. I’d love to go to one myself. Looks like you got a few decent bits to bring home, and I’m sure Darren will get lots of use out of his man cave chair.
I remember corresponding via text when you were in Ghana as neither of us had posh do everything phones then! I also remember you tumbling off the side of the road......not funny 😊 At least you had the gumption to go out there and do it. Not an easy thing on your own.
Hope you’re not planning on too much gardening tomorrow.

  2. It was a great think to do, pity I waited until I was gone sixty before I managed it! Have never regretted any of it though. Used to have to try and get to a very iffy Internet cafe to get messages home then!
Not too much, maybe rain will stop play if I am lucky but none is forecast!
