Creeping back to normality!

Today Tina and I went to Scarborough, our main reason was to go and have a browse at the viewing day at the auction house. We managed to grab the last parking space at outside the venue. We enjoyed an hour wandering about, not many people and nobody getting in anybody else’s way. We are going to leave bids on a couple of items. It was fun to be back there having a look around. We then went off to the car park above Wilkos. We parked on the third floor and when we got to the lifts they were closed! There had been no sign to say they weren’t operating at the entrance. I struggled down the stone steps, not great for the knees! We walked along the High Street to the Brunswick Centre where luckily the toilets were open. A very good system and Tina and I were the only ones in there so all good so far. The main town was pretty busy so we set off towards Castle Road. A little cafe called Cafe Niche was open so we had our first meal out. Very well set up in there and a lovely couple running it. Had a nice lunch and then we went along to the Sewing Centre. The couple who run it always remember me as the spider lady so we had a chat which was nice. Tina had suggested I start making masks again as we both think there will be more needed if wearing them becomes mandatory. Got a few nice end of roll pieces of material.
Then we walked along the road a bit to the model shop and I managed to get a selection of model paints. I want to decorate a watering can and maybe some stone paper weights.
My knees were really giving me trouble so my progress was slow back to the car park. Tina kindly made her way up to collect the car and I waited down on the pavement. She has younger legs than me but it was very kind.
On the way back we stopped at the garden centre near Bridlington and had a coffee as the coffee shop was open. Another first as Tina had her details taken for tracing should it be necessary. We also got a couple of great plants, I got them planted after we had tea..

The first picture the flowers become more fluffy as the open up more. The second one the flowers start like daisies and then become those big red flowers.
I made some cheese scones before I came up for the rest of the evening. So quite a full day and things we haven’t done since lockdown.

  1. What a really nice day, apart from the knees that is. Sounds like you still managed to enjoy most of it. Maybe not the steps so much though.
I hope you get the items you’re putting bids on. So nice to do relatively normal things again. It must have felt strange to eat out. I’m looking forward to doing it myself at some point, but it’s been so long. Hopefully I’ll pluck up the courage to venture into town for a look round and maybe a burger or something. Will definitely be using one of the masks you made me.
Looks like you’ve enough material there to keep you occupied making a few more. I’m sure you won’t have a shortage of people wanting them.
The new plants are pretty. I love the one with the bright red flower.
Hopefully you’ll sleep well tonight after a busy day out and about.

  2. Yes, quite strange to do things we haven’t done in a while. The knees were a pain, literally, but they didn’t really spoil the day, just slowed me down a bit!
We both really like Scarborough so it is like going home in a way.
They are great new plants and we can see them from the kitchen window when we sit with a cuppa to watch the wildlife!
