Perfect poppies and county views

The poppies in the garden are opening in the front bed, mostly mauve but a couple of lovely red ones already. One of the reds is really dark but doesn’t seem much different to the first one in the photos.

Tina was going up to the Atwick church this morning as they were opening for private prayer for the first time since the lockdown. So I went along so that I could have a walk round the lanes. Didn’t see any other pedestrians at all today although only walked for about half an hours. Took lots of pics, not needing explanation really.

I went to the shop for some bits and then before lunch I did some pruning along the back of the garden, those bushes just keep on coming!!
After lunch I got the new paving slab into position and tidied up the bed around it which you will be surprised to hear was getting overgrown!  Then I went across to the other side of the garden. Firstly I swept the path along by the wall as Tina had slipped over on the wet leaves earlier. Then I tidied up the Heuchera bed and got the new one planted.

The trough planter I got a while ago is looking stunning now, even the nasturtiums I put in as seeds have begun to open.
I made a cake and an apple crumble and tea for the three of us. I am weary now, Tina has been out for a while this evening clearing more of the gravel path, she is on a mission.

  1. Wow the poppies look great. I really like the first pic as I think the sign in the background suits the pic. They are lovely plants.
Loads of pics from Atwick. All nice, but a couple jump out. The one of the plant against the sky, and the one with the bales. Some really nice scenery around that way. You’re definitely spoiled for subjects to photograph.
Looks like you did major work in the garden! Does look nice when it’s all fresh and clear though. It’d just be nice if someone else did it and you just got the pleasure of looking 😊
The trough planter is really colourful. I hope the nasturtiums will end up in a salad at some point. They’re lovely and peppery.
All in all a good day for you. Glad to hear you weren’t tempted to lend the Rev a helping hand on the gravel this evening. Definitely deserved feet up time for you.

  2. It has been a pretty good day even though I have felt a bit achy and quite tired.
Nice to have a short walk with different scenery, and good to get some maintenance done in the garden.
I love the poppies and I am very pleased with the trough planter.
