Foxglove painting and a cold windy sea front

Today I have gone a step nearer normality! Tina hasn’t been very well today so I did the weekend shop for the first time since lock down. So three different shops today, all pretty quiet and well organised. Then Darren fancied a trip up to Freeport to go to the Pound Stretcher shop, the only one that is  open up there at the moment. No queue there and very clearly marked out for social distancing. The weather today has been mostly grey and some more rain, also pretty windy and cold.
Mike suggested yesterday that I should get the water colours out and paint foxgloves! So this afternoon I did just that.
After painting I thought I would try a walk to the sea front. I have some blue self sticking support tape and used some under each of my knees. I think it limited the jarring a bit and I got there and back okay. Very strong wind and quite chilly, what a change in the weather!

The sky on the way home was looking quite threatening, but it has brightened up again now!
Have had a chat with Lee and family on FaceTime and had tea. Going to watch a program about The Mona Lisa this evening.

  1. It’s good living in a slightly small place as the shops don’t appear to get so crowded. That’s definitely a good thing for getting back into the swing of real life again. Don’t think the shops this way are so quiet. I suppose I’ll have to venture out to them before long myself. If I can remember how to shop now!
I knew the foxglove would make a good subject, and I was right. You’ve caught it really well in that painting.
Your trip to the sea was worth the effort. I like all those pics with the really nice moody skies. Sounds like the new way of strapping the knees may be the way to go in future. Anything that makes things easier is a good thing.

  2. I am pleased I had a go at painting the foxglove, must admit I almost didn’t as it looked too difficult!
I loved the skies and the way a little sun was catching the water, certainly made for interesting sea pics.
I have quite a lot of the tape so I will try using it again.
