Flora day

I went to a couple of shops in the town this morning and took pictures of the lavatera plants in the front garden, and the lovely display of poppies.

It was hot today but I did some weeding and tidying in the walled garden, didn’t take before and after s but did remove a lot of weeds!
When we went to the garden centre last week I got some hollyhock seeds. You can plant them outside now and move the young plants into their growing position in the autumn to flower next year. I have planted them in pots and will leave the tray balanced on the chair as on the ground the slugs find their way in! The packet said there were an average of 50 seeds per packet, I only had 35 so I was robbed!!
Sarah and David came round to sit in the garden with me for an hour or so this afternoon which was nice. Took some photos of flowers in the garden, the sea holly is now turning blue. I will move it in the autumn so that it isn’t under the laburnum tree.
The bed where the acre tree and honeysuckle are is just so colourful at the moment.
I did a bit of weeding in the rockery. One of the succulents is about to flower, it is all looking very healthy.

  1. Some cracking pics on here today. So colourful. It really makes all the hard work in the garden worthwhile when you see the variety of plants you have. Very pleasurable to look at now shame those damn weeds eventually poke their heads up and spoil things! The rockery is coming along lovely. So much better than the defunct steps it replaced, and much better looking. I think you’ll probably still have enough hollyhocks if they all come through 😊
Glad you had visitors for a little while. At least that stopped you doing too much gardening today. It’s been really warm, so not the idea weather for toiling!

  2. It is just a pleasure to sit out now and not be thinking .’I really must clear that or tidy something’. There will always be jobs to do but definitely getting more on top of it!
Perfect day for friends coming to visit and sit out there!
