Sittin having my breakfast Pandora settles on the window seat looking so cute, not a great pic as I was taking it into the light.
This morning I did some tidying in the bedroom and then tied the red, white and blue ribbons onto the peg crosses.
We have a laburnum tree in the garden and apart from being poisonous it is not a pretty tree for most of the year, except when it comes into bloom. The rain has encouraged it to do just that so for no it is looking very pretty.
This afternoon I thought I would make some more masks as Tina found that they had the narrow elastic at Countdown. I was going along fairly well for a start but then the machine started to play up, skipping stitches and breaking the thread. I tried changing the tension, then retreading the bobbin and evening changing the needle. All to no avail. I had also read the instruction again and realised I couldn’t make it as the instructions said as the elastic pieces were actually shorter than the sides of the mask! Feeling somewhat frustrated I went dow to have a cuppa with Darren and Tina when Darren got in from work and then get my tea.
Before the real problems started I made one mask but the elastic wasn’t well placed. Tina tried it on and said it was fine but a bit tight, probably due to me not getting the elastic right!
After I had eaten my dinner I came up and changed the thread on the machine and refilled the bobbin. It then seemed to be stitching okay. The second attempt I got the elastic in a better position and Tina tried it and said it wasn’t so tight.
So fairly productive, although I have given up sewing for now, but not energetic. Hopefully I will feel like exercising tomorrow!
A bit of a rest for you today then, although it sounds like you’ve not been sitting around idle.
ReplyDeleteI thought that first pic was of a bulrush when I first glimpsed it. Was wondering if you’d gained a pond!
Pandora does look quite cute, and it looks like she might want to take up photography too 😊
Is that all the crosses you are doing, or are there more? They look good with the ribbons on.
I don’t know about coronavirus, but those masks will be the death of you! They’ve not exactly been the easiest of tasks you’ve chosen of late. Glad the machine turned out to be ok as I don’t think you’d be getting it fixed for a while. The masks look ok though and the Rev makes a good model, although she does resemble Dick Turpin a bit 😀
I may be able to identify the flower when it opens up fully.
ReplyDeleteNo more crosses, that will be enough for the main bed.
I will probably get quicker at the masks when I get my own technique.
