I was stood next to the fir tree and noticed how lovely it is when the new growth is appearing. You just don’t see that when walking past.
Quite a lot of coming and going today, Tina had asked if Lucian next door could move the very large chunk of brick and concrete for us that was still on the lawn from the step dismantling. He needed the sledge hammer and the bits were still really heavy, I got the wheelbarrow out for him and he managed it on his own. They had a skip on their drive and had said we could put anything in it. Don’t think he envisaged ending up with since a task! A local small garden centre is now doing home deliveries and Tina ordered a couple of trays of plants. Just a random selection but a good mix. He unloaded them onto the bench for us.
Then the postman arrived and he left the mail on the bench for us. Social distancing is pretty easy in our front garden! I got as far as the fir tree, had hope to get that side finished, well, tidied if not properly finished, but by then I had done well over an hour and it was enough for today. I still had quite a little bit to do. Tina helped me get the plants into the back garden and we made sure the tools were put away before we had lunch.
This afternoon I did some baking made a crumble and a sponge cake. Melted some chocolate to finish the cake off and no sinking today!
Almost forgot to post the picture of the cards I made last night, pleased with these and must use those stamps again. Going to do a bit more crafting this evening.
As a final note I did use the new compression gloves, did have a bit of trouble with my hands but expected that because of the amount of gardening I have done this week. But on the whole I think they are a successful buy!
You do amazingly well with that garden. I’d have dug the whole front up, we’ll got someone else to dig it up actually, then covered it in gravel, or better still concrete as weeds still get through gravel. Little sods! Hopefully the gloves have helped a bit today, but only this evening will tell. That’s a great set of plants the Rev got. She certainly doesn’t like to see you with nothing to do in the garden, as if! 😊 Digging things out one day, planting things another. I’d get confused! You’re right about not noticing things. The growth on the fir is lovely, but most of us miss it under normal circumstances. Such a shame we’re not more observant.
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks very delicious. Bet at least half of that’ll be gone by this evening.
Nice cards.
Being home bound and not having surgery is a benefit to the garden if not to me! Always a bright side!
ReplyDeleteThe fir doesn’t look red tinged from a distance. I will be keeping an eye on it now!
We could really do with some rain, having to water newly planted flowers as the ground is really bone dry, especially in the back garden.
