Tin man progress and gardening

This morning I worked out how to make a face for the tin man, so a bit nearer completion.
We decided that he would have a cup of tea and we would make a sign saying ‘more tea vicar?’ I had thought of a plastic cup and saucer and tried to find one yesterday, but then Tina reminded me that I had a wicker planter in the shape of a cup and saucer, bigger but better really. I bought a small folding stool at the boot sale a few weeks ago and it proved to be just the right size for a table!
Just the heart and sign to do later!
I went round to Sarah’s for a quick chat and cuppa and then went and got some shopping in.
Then out into the garden and I planned to tidy up two of the beds that I have dug out this year. They had got surprisingly messy and weedy again.

It was really hot and muggy today so I had to take a couple of breaks out of the sun to drink plenty of water. But after two hours or so they were much improved, for the time being!

I had some flower plants in tubs that I had planted quickly from the greenhouse before we went to Orkney. Have moved them out to one of the beds and fingers crossed they won’t die!
Sat in the summer house for a bit with more water. Scruffy was about, that makes my day!

The squirrel was back again too.

Another bird picture and one of a moth that Tina sports on the dining room door.

Tina cooked a very nice risotto for tea and since then I have been painting the sign for the scarecrow and making a heart!

  1. I really can’t help but smile every time I see the tin man. The heart will just finish it off nicely once it’s attached. The cup and the sign will be the icing on the cake. If you don’t get some comments about it I’ll be very surprised. Wonder what your next challenge will be?
I see you still found time to slave away in the garden. It does look so much better though.
Some great wildlife pics again this evening. The close up of the squirrel through the leaves is a great shot. You have plenty to do your own wildlife calendar.
Hopefully you’ll take it a bit easier tomorrow. Alternate the heavy days with the odd light one 😊

  2. Nice to have all the parts done for the tin man, all ready to go on show on Friday.
I was pleased with my progress in the garden, I will get on with the large flower bed before too long,
Getting into the close up pics now.
