Rockery clearing and quilting instruction!

When I watered the gardens last night I realised that the rockery was so overgrown that you could hardly make out it was there, so this morning I made my target to get working on that area. I didn’t take a ‘before’ picture but the amount of stuff I cleared will give your u an idea how bad it was!

I went out into the  summer house to cool off but it was very hot, but a young starling was on one of the feeders, will put all three as I couldn’t make up my mind!

Then I took pictures of the poppies next to the summer house and couldn’t decide which ones of them either!

It was too hot in the summer house so I went up and sat on the patio for a bit in the shade. Took one of the garden looking like a park and some of the foliage of the trees.

This afternoon I went up to visit Ellie, about a mile so I took a leisurely pace in the heat. Passed this gorgeous plant on the way.
I want one of those in the garden!
Ellie has a computerised all dancing and singing sewing machine but hasn’t had the confidence to use it much and ants to try quilting. I suggested sewing squares to try and get her a piece of actual sewing done to give her the confidence to try again on her own, although I would happily go and hav another session with her. She was pretty pleased with the result, so fingers crossed.
Brian, her husband drove me home and later this evening I will sort through some of my art stuff as the Orkney gang are coming to se some of it tomorrow evening.

  1. I remembered humping those rocks around for that rockery. It looks really nice now with the plants growing in it. Minus weeds helps a fair bit too!
You’re very indecisive with the pics tonight, but I can see why. Too many nice ones to choose from. I’d have picked the middle one of the starling. The poppies are cracking, and the view of your own little..ish park is great. It even looks pretty tidy 😊 The pink plant you came across is lovely. Hopefully you can find out what it is and get some. Go knock on their door and ask. They might even give you a cutting!
The bit of quilting looks good. Another string to add to your bow. Quilting lessons. You’ll need the week extended to eight days soon 😊
    Have fun sorting.

  2. Yes, I was definitely in indecisive mode, I have to make choices most days but the poppies were colourful.
The garden is definitely improving, slowly but surely.
I just hope Ellie does have a go on her own, she has said she will but we will see.
