Quite a day, well, ending at least!

Very hot again today so I now did little bits of pottering outside. Did wash and dry some bedding today, still very wet out of the washing machine but we have the spinner now, so it all dried beautifully outside. The double poppy near the greenhouse is still lovely, had the phone with me when I fed the birds first thing.
I found some more smooth for stones on the drive and set about making the picture for my friends daughters graduation. I managed to get a box frame to use at the boot sale. I think it is fun, I think she will like it.
I did a bit of tidying in the garden, pulling a few weeds and some dead heading. Three quite nice courgettes today.
The sweet peas a flowering and smell gorgeous.
As it had clouded over and was a bit cooler I decided to have a leisurely walk to the front and have pensioners fish and chips. Took a few seagull pics before eating!

I sat on a bench on the promenade and had my fish and chips and cup of tea, above my head two of the black headed gulls were having a ding dong!

Tried to get some shots with birds in flight, you don’t need to know how many I deleted!

There are more scarecrows appearing, a great one of Sister Act in the church yard.
And a Flintstones one in a charity shop.
I walked home and was in a bit after 6.30 pm. I used a couple of cans of water in the front garden and was just about to water the bonsai trees when I realised Blue had caught something. I flicked some water at her and she dropped a baby wren! Then I am screaming at the cats and calling Tina for help. The next two hours were something of a trial, it may have been tiny but was lively and quick. Behind the freezer, alongside the washing machine, in the kitchen etc. We moved so much stuff then I thought it had gone up behind the radiator! Tina went back to her office as I had dragged her away for long enough, I checked every box and kept an eye on the radiator. Darren came home from archery and went into the living room, after a little while he said it was in there! We didn’t see it scoot out of the kitchen but Tina did wonder if it had given us the slip! Then it was behind the tv, but with the three of us we managed to get it in a pot. Then Darren and Tina got the cats in, physically carrying them in and I went and let the now quite lively and chirpy baby purr in amongst the bushes at the back of the garden. Wrens are grounded for a day or two when they fledge so we are hoping that it will stay under cover until it can fly. I have a lot of clearing up to get done tomorrow!

  1. Another varied day for you, in lots of way by the sounds of it!
You’ve got some lovely stuff growing the garden now. It almost makes all the hard work seem worth it 😊 It’s nice to have some veg to go alongside the colourful flowers. Chicken, courgette, soupy thing coming up?
Bet the fish and chips by the sea were nice. They always taste better by the sea. Love the third gull pic. The close up of it sitting on the post. The colouring goes so well with the water. Makes a great pic. Into the folder with it 😊 Nice to see a pic of the fighting gulls so I can see what was making all the noise earlier.
What a palaver with the wren! Glad you managed to save it in the end. Hope it does have the sense to stay hidden now for a while. Do think it’s funny you were sitting watching a radiator while it was actually in a different room 😊 I’m sure you can see the funny side now....maybe not at the time though.

  2. Was feeling quite exhausted after the wren drama. I can see the funny side of watching a radiator while it was recovering from being chased around in another room!
Made.a change to get some gull pictures, will add a couple to the printing folder.
We have got some lovely flowers in the garden, still plenty of weeds as well though!

  3. Meant to say how the smarty pants pic made me smile. Think someone else will be smiling when they open it too. It’s lovely.
