Usual sort of day

This morning after I fed the birds I noticed the hanging baskets were starting to wilt so watered them and the bonsai trees. I went along to the factory shop with my trolley as I wanted to get another tub of fat balls. Sixty in there so it is pretty heavy. Got some bits for lunch on the way back and then went to Countdown to get some picture hanging wire. Darren and Tina got me some first day covers yesterday and I hunted out some frames to get them on show rather thatput them in a drawer never to see the light of day again! Got them hung before lunch, albeit struggling to get them at the same height!

They picked some that they knew I would really like.
When I was at Countdown I saw some large foil roasting dishes for a pound each and thought I could make the body of the tin man scarecrow with them. There is a scarecrow trail in the town and we are taking part this year. Also went to Lucian’s bar next door and they are good no to get me a couple of bags of beer cans!! Somehow I will get it altogether!
This afternoon I went out to finish the part of the garden I started yesterday, it now looks much clearer and lighter as I did prune the trees. They were right down amongst the foxgloves so I think they will be a lot happier now.
At the same time Darren got his hang glider out on the lawn, he hasn’t checked it for years and apparently it is okay. I did take another photo but for some reason it will not download, so this is the only one.
I did have a break in the summer house and just a couple of bird pics.

That first one was Scruffy with one of her babies.
There is a thistle a good way away from the summer house, three pics, on straight, one at 40 zoom and one as far as I could take the zoom
I did take up Mike’s challenge and took one of a marigold on 128 x zoom without the monopod!
Not bad!!
Last night Andrea gave the three of us fantastic A3 photo books, a really great way to remember our trip.

This evening I have been making fish pi and cottage pies as Tina has a meeting here tomorrow and people are travelling long distances to get here.
Have watered the back garden but left the front to it’s chances!

  1. I can see why they chose those stamps for you. Very nice. You did well to find frames and get them sorted and hung straight away. They look pretty level to me too 😊
Gardening, tree pruning, cooking, framing and making tin men too! You amaze me with the amount of different things you can manage to find to do. I’d be worn out if I did all that in a week, let alone a couple of days. Looking forward to seeing the tin man.
Good job you have a big garden now. That hang glider looks enormous! Why anyone would want to throw themselves off a perfectly good hill I’ll never know. Not got the bottle to do it myself.
Your just showing off with the camera now. That’s not a bad shot at that sort of zoom hand held. You’ve certainly got a steadier hand than me. Actually I really like the colours in that too.
The photo book is a lovely present. It looks really good quality. You’ll definitely have to think about having one done. I don’t envy you the task of picking the pics from the amount you have though 😊

  2. Has seemed like a busy day, hopefully will sleep well tonight.
Really pleased O was able to get the stamp covers up straight away otherwise they would have ended up on the ‘to do’ list!
I have got a pretty steady hand unless it is numb!
The photo book is fantastic, great to show other folk too.
