Bit crafty!

This morning I went along to the Living Well group to see if I could lend a hand preparing for their monthly lunch. They didn’t need veg preparation today but I help lay up the tables. It has rained a lot today so no gardening, which is probably a blessing in disguise as my hands were quite troublesome in the night and my knee has been painful today. So a rest day wa just what wa needed.
When I went out to feed the birds this morning I noticed the green gladioli was flowering. I knew I had bought green ones but couldn’t remember where they were planted. Also took a picture of red and white ones as they really are fabulous flowers.

This web was in the door at the URC Hall this morning.
Made for an interesting photo.
I made a card this morning. Cutting that particular die is a bit of a pain, but it is so lovely when it works!
I went for a ride with Tina to Beverley this afternoon, I wanted to get to the bank and she had a meeting. We had a coffee, then we our errands were done we went to Aldi, and is always the way, bought more than intended!
This evening I have done a bit of a painting again, going to try and be arty a bit more regularly,  it I have made those sorts of plans before!

Gardening and evening sea

Will make th entry shortish, writing wise anyway. Charlie’s time to be in the limelight today, he has been sprawling in the dining room looking exceedingly comfortable.

I spent quit a bit of the day weeding the side bed in the front garden and also pruned back a couple of the trees as best I could. Not photos of the work but one of the yuccas and some of the bees!

We went down to have fish and chips, the three of us, after that we went to see the sea.

I only had the phone with me but a rainbow appeared so I did my best.

A double rainbow at the end!

Back to the gardening

We have some yellow gladioli opening now, they are alongside dark ones and will look stunning.

It was damp earlier but I decided to get started on the front garden. I went to the corner where we had the stump grinding done. On the way up there I took a couple of pictures of the sea holly as the butterflies have found them.

I had already started working on the corner of the bed when I thought I would take a photo.
Some of the roots and runners were still at the edges but the ground was easier to turn after the rain as it had been set like concrete!
So more gardening than I have done in awhile, but I feel okay at the moment, and it certainly looks better.
More butterfly pics! Strange the effect of the light.

When Darren got home he and Darren moved the Tim man back into the walled garden. I removed his legs for the move!
I did a very quick sketch of a plant I have had for a while, drew it with a fine line pen.
I went to see Sarah for a bit this evening and then got some plants in that had been left in the garden by a lady we saw at the art exhibition.

Sea in the morning and a bit of sketching in the afternoon!

Darren and I decided to stay at home today rather than chance Skirlington, so I had an early walk donn to the sea front. Always  nd up taking pictures of the sea!

One of the seagulls enjoying their beach before the humans arrived!
On the way home I saw this little cat, made me a bit sad as she reminded me of Purdy, rarely see a dark tortie these days.

Also saw this lovely Rose.
Then this butterfly on the drive.
I did have a trip to the shop to get stuff for dinner and then another walk to the town hall to see a few more of the artists that were displayed not their work. May sign up to a couple of short sessions with a watercolourist. It was enough to make me sit in the summerhouse and do a bit of painting. My brushes are in a sorry state so if I am good no to try and get a bit more serious with the painting I had better get some replacements.
Bit of letter writing tonight I think.

Hull and visiting art exhibits.

Another fairly short entry today. I caught an early bus into town as I had a list of things to sort before my trip to the USA. My knee had really stiffened up when I got off the bus but I managed to do all the jobs on my list and a couple that I had forgotten to put on the list! I took a closer picture of the birds on the walls of the station as they are really very attractive.
I was quite achey when I got back but Tina and I did walk around the town as it was the Hornsea Art Society exhibition and a lot of venues had open studios as well. It was very interesting and we saw some great art work.
When I was going to get tea I noticed Blue, not the brightest cat in the world, had settled herself in a container that did have tulips in, quite a small container!

After dinner Tina needed to drop some stuff off at Skipsea church and then we drove back via the sea. We went through some torrential rain but it had stopped by the time we were by the sea though. It was misty and the air was steamy, still quite uncomfortable.

Resting the knees now that haven’t fully recovered from me throwing myself on the concrete a couple of days ago!

Early morning trip and paying the price!

I did get the sun lounger chair out and settled down for sleeping on the patio. Although it had seemed perfect sitting out in the day time, for night it is narrow with hard arms, and as I am a natural fidget in the night I was soon struggling. Listening to the night birds and insects was interesting and I knew the time withthe quarter hourly chimes of the church bell! By two forty five I decided it was time to go in, then the difficulty begun as the chair is very low and I find it very difficult with my knees to get up from the floor or very low seats. I managed to stand up but lost my balance, I reached out to the chair to steady myself and it sprung into a different position, and I hit the deck, well, the paving to be more precise. Very jarred knees anda scrapes and bleeding toe! No major damage but today my knee and toe have been very sore. I did go to the Living Well  meeting, it was a tech surgery and although busy I was able to get help to get my iPad backed up without paying for extra storage, so glad I bothered. The rest of the day Ihave pretty much sat around, for a while in the garden and then indoors. It has been uncomfortably hot and sticky again today. Even thecats have been feeling the heat!

When I went out to feed the birds this morning I noticed the hover flies on one of the mauve poppies. Will post all three pics as couldn’t decide.

I went out in the front garden to take photos of the flowers. Had to take this one of the yucca as I think the flowers are at best they will be, truly fabulous.
Then gladioli and a hollyhock.

My knee feels a little better now so resting was a good plan. We have had a brief fall of rain, hopefully there will be more overnight.
