Yesterday evening I started quilting the squares, sewing diagonally both ways on all of the 42 squares. I had bought some tailors chalk, ignored the instructions to do a test piece, and found rather too late that it wouldn't brush off. Never mind, gives the stitching an orange tinge! Then I realised that I hadn't used the cotton I had bought especially, but was not about to unpick 9 squares so a change of plan there! This morning I got on with stitching the rest and that continued into the afternoon, but they were then ready for me to decide the layout later. I took a walk into town, just to stretch my legs really, but did head down to the market and got some fresh veg to go with the lamp chops I had bought on the way in. Trying another meal in the deep steam case. I went out the back entrance of the market and found myself on a road I hadn't walked along before. There was a primary school that was nestled in front of the castle and St Mary's.
The walk back from there was one I almost decided not to take as the hill further on looked pretty steep!
It was!!
Nearing the top, going slowly and still able to breathe.......
I cut through to see the sea again, quite a calm sea but a bit dull today.
Back home and I started to lay the quilt pieces out, took up all the floor space in here so I was treading on squares as I arranged them!
I then had to number them all so that I remember, the photo should help too.
Pinned those tags on and now have a pile of squares ready for the next stage. I did a bit of calligraphy practice yesterday evening so may do a bit more tonight.
That hill does look rather steep! Definitely a hill for the bike I think.
ReplyDeleteShame that the chalk has left a mark on the fabric, but like you say, it will add to the stitching. It's a feature :)
Too true, you just have to go with the flow sometimes!
ReplyDeleteYour doing well. A glutton for punishment tho. Rather you than me with the hills. Lol xx
ReplyDeleteWon't be going that way again in a hurry!! x
