This morning I got the small gate leg table out of the cupboard and put it in the bedroom. It is small, but very sturdy and will be fine for cutting quilt pieces on. I made dinner for us at lunch time and then this afternoon decided to get the rest of the pieces cut for the raggy quilt. I had cut some of the fleece squares and some of the wadding squares. The patterned top material was precut in a pack. This was the state of play before I started.
We need 42 squares of material, fleece and wadding, so I had a way to go.
Once I had them all cut thought I would start the next process, the amount of squares to layer looked a bit daunting!
Then a case of carefully layering a fleece, wadding in the middle and the fabric on the top and using four pins to secure them flat and ready for stitching. I very nearly used every long pin I had in the cupboard! But I am now ready for the next stage next Saturday.
I have gone back to the cardigan I was crocheting before Christmas, so think I will put on a Tommy Steele film and do a bit, on the second sleeve now!

  1. Like the patterns. Did you get to choose or were they just as the pack came? If my maths is right, I bet it's going to end up a bit less than 60 inches wide, and a bit less than 70 inches long. Either that, or very long and narrow!

  2. We all have the same patterns in the packs, but we will no doubt put them together differently. Hadn't thought about the size but roughly 60 x 70, although with the thickness I imagine we well be doing at least half inch seams as opposed to the usual quarter.
