Yesterday evening Anya and Louis went back to the holiday home and Isobel was having a sleepover with me and the plan was to go down to the beach at around 11.30 pm to make a drink and then be on the beach at midnight. It was quite chilly and I have several fleece type waistcoats, Isobel wanted to try one on.
She actually wore it over her coat when we went out to make a nice warm extra layer! I got the kettle on in the hut and just managed to have the drinks made for midnight. There were a couple of fires on the beach at the north bay and we saw and more especially heard lots of fireworks. Isobel remained full of beans, talked to mum and dad on the phone when we got back here and then she wanted her book as she was still full of beans! I made some pastry last night and put it in the fridge. I was up at 8 am and between running up and down stairs to keep an eye for Isobel to wake up I made mince pies and jam tarts! Anya wanted some mince pies to take home and Tina had hinted about jam tarts as she liked the look of my pastry and doesn't like mince meat! Isobel had breakfast in bed as she was not in a hurry to get up!
Anya and Louis came over about 11 am and Anya, Darren and I had a game of Scrabble before they went back to the holiday cottage. They were having lunch there and then making their way back to Peterborough today. In case anyone reads this who I haven't had contact, and for those I have, I wish you a happy, healthy 2016.
A good way to start the New Year, and fun too!
ReplyDeleteShe looks really happy to stay in bed and be waited on, but shouldn't it really be the other way round? :-)
Hmmm mince pies, you do make nice ones!
Maybe have to get her trained for next time!
