This morning I finished sewing the pieces together to make the squares for the quilt. Wouldn't have started this one if I had realised just how fiddly it is! Here is the pile, 64 in all, to be ironed later!
I took the painted tile I did of Marilyn off the wall as I had promised to take it to the studio to show Donna's grandad who at the moment is attempting to do a portrait on some pottery. This may not have been on the blog as I painted it at the studio in Peterborough when I still lived there.
When I got home I got started on the ironing, it took an age and made my shoulder ache! I had a break in the middle to have lunch with Darren (there were tasty sandwiched left from yesterday) and then the man arrived to look at the cooker. After a lot of testing and being very thorough he decided that it was probably being affected by the boiler coming on and dropping the pressure, he also said that the bit missing from the previous cooker would not have made any difference, so probably the pressure was the problem with that too!! Only a little bit jarred off and not totally convinced that the pressure is the problem, I will do some testing! I finished off the ironing before I went down to the hut.
When I got down to the front the sea looked like it had a purplish tinge, but it doesn't really look it in the photo.
I had a go at catching birds (not literally) in the sky!
As I walked on the beach I took a photo of the chalets where my temporary hut is as the key goes back in a couple of weeks. It is yellow and next to the orange one!
Back home the ironed pieces had to all be trimmed to squares of the same size. After a while I had these scraps on the floor, had cut a piece off one of my fingers and kicked my thumb, so plenty of blood and now the walking wounded!
So they are all now trimmed and I need to check what the next stage is.
You'd have still made it even if you knew how many bits there were, as you always give it a go. I'd have checked how many bits before I'd agreed to it and then said sod that :-) Good job you have more patience than me, which isn't difficult!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe you only have a couple of weeks left with the hut. It doesn't seem that long since you told me you had it! You'll miss it, I'm sure, but at least we're heading towards some better weather before too long......maybe!
I can see the purple tinge where the sea is breaking on the beach.
The bed is covered now trying to decide on the layout!
ReplyDeleteOh dear! Sorry to hear about the cooker problem, could the boiler be upgraded by the church? Your photos look interesting, the birds in the sky are very hard to catch as well done. Good job you have plenty of patients with the ironing, sewing. Xx
ReplyDeleteWearing a bit thin mow, time to settle down to Midsmoer Murders! x
