Took a picture of the 'magic bean' yesterday evening, think the leaves have opened up a bit more today.
The wind got up again over night, and a bit damp as well first thing, but went off to see Sandy at the ceramic studio calling in to see Sandra on the way and picked up the instruction sheet for the next stage of the raggy quilt. Had a chat and drink with Sandy then walked into town and through the old town to the South Bay. Very windy but fancied a walk along the front. The new life boat station is really taking shape now.
Took this picture of the harbour, check out the flagpole on the right of the picture, pretty strong wind!
An arty shot is always good for a change, this one of the small big wheel (bit of a contradiction there) is fun!
Took this picture as I walked along the headland, looking towards the north bay. I was lucky that the wind was with me, it was literally moving me when it gusted, and I am no lightweight!
I took the cliff path up to the promenade, took this one when I was at the top. I had trouble keeping the camera still with the wind.
My first visit to Scarborough was with Darren in the November of the year before I moved here. We walked around the town and came to see the house from the outside. We had a snack at the Teasmaid cafe, and I have been there quite a few times. I like it and the man in there has a wicked sense of humour. I am fond of the place as it was the first place I visited up here, so the next picture makes me a bit sad!!
I have spent quite a while this afternoon sewing the quilt squares together. I have never done so much unpicking and it is very thick so a battle for the machine. I have done all seven rows now, just have to sew them all together next! It was a bulky stitching them together with 6 layers of fabric. When you are assembling the rows together at the seams it will be 12 layers of fabric - should be fun!
Good job the crane was holding up better to the wind than the flagpole was in the other picture. A bit blustery to say the least, but you still managed an arty shot too. You're keen :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I went into The Teasmaid with you at some point. Shame it's up for sale, but maybe the new owners will be as nice and you'll still vist there, assuming it continues as a cafe.
12 layers for the sewing machine is a lot and hopefully it'll handle it ok, but looking on the bright side, if you break the foot at least you have a spare one :-)
Thanks for that Mike, two feet are always better than one!!
