Bit of a winter wonderland

Early this morning when I was going to feed the birds there had been snow and there was a coating on the path. I cleared it once and the it started to snow again and the path was covered again.
I cleared it again and used the sand/salt mixture. It has remained clear all day, so fingers crossed. The broom snapped, the metal pole had rusted through. I was meeting Angela at the Green Owl later so thought I would buy a new one while I was out.
The front garden had begun to look quite a picture.
Met up with Angela, we had a drink and nattered and after a while had another drink and early lunch. I managed to find a broom in Boyes and ended up using it before I got indoors. The snow had turned to slush on the pavements and I imagine it will be treacherous tomorrow as the forecast says we are due to have temperatures well below freezing tonight. But in front of our drive where the cars had been in and out it looked lethal with the compacted snow. So I cleared it as best I could and got some of the sand/salt mixture onto it.
All the snow clearing had tired me and sitting in my chair, complete with cat of course, it was sunny for a while and the it begun to snow quite heavily. Tried a photo from where I was sitting but took one through the window when Pandora decided to move.

I did go into the garden to clear the pavers near the greenhouse and the step in front of the greenhouse. Also topped up the supplies in the cupboard near the summer house so that I don’t need to go near the greenhouse in the morning. Ice and glass are not a good combination!
I have had a shower this evening, now in my big hoodie with a cat on my lap, ready for the next episode of The Traitors later.

  1. You have had a bit of snow up there. Luckily it’s not reached down as far as us, yet! I have to say the front garden does look nice with a layer of snow, but it can be quite treacherous. Sounds like you’ve made very good use of the new broom already. Definitely a good idea sorting the pavement where the cars have compacted the snow. You don’t want any passing old biddies breaking a leg outside the vicarage 😊
A bit of forward planning with the wildlife supplies was a good idea. As you say, staying away from the greenhouse while the snow is around is the best idea. Certainly don’t want any mishaps before Christmas, or after it come to that!
Big hoodie and a warm cat is perfect for a cold evening 😊

  2. I think tomorrow will be icy pavements. If the roads are clear may get out with Tina for a while.
Winter snow has arrived early this year, let’s hope it isn’t a sign of things to come!
