The bells, the bells!

Parts of this adventure have been comedic, last night for example. I had been waiting for the carers for over an hour and was getting desperate for the loo but not going because that would be a sure fire thing that they would arrive. The door bell went, but also one that I thought was the sister beckoning me.so went to the door to let the carers in while the box in the hall was ringing and flashing fit to bust! I went up to see if sister had called and she said no, meanwhile I couldn’t turn the thing off! I eventually muted the sound but it was still flashing! We left it at that and I hoped that it would still work if necessary, it did eventually stop flashing as well. Waited then for the carers to leave so that I could lock up then made a cuppa and sat quietly for what was left of the evening. This morning I was told that that alarm is linked to the door bell and not an emergency one and if it happens it means the door bell has jammed on! You live and learn…….
Later in the day it was more bell play when we decided we should make sure that I can hear the alarm after I have closed the fire doors. First test, nothing! But new batteries meant that it does indeed work in my room when the fire doors are shut.  Sister does have my mobile phone number as back up andI leave it on by the bed.
This morning I cleaned the beautiful candle holders from the Altar. They are bronze and I think they are stunning. I asked where they got them as I would have loved to have got some for Tina, or myself even! But sadly they had them made especially.

After lunch I walked to the garden centre I went to a couple of days ago, but this time I walked both ways. Took a sky picture on the way.

I passed the village sign and must look up what sport they hosted at the Olympics.
I really wanted to get another photo of the lovely, weathered Tudor cottage, but it was too well protected by high fences. Took a picture of the garage instead!
Walked by this late blooming group of wild flowers by the roadside.
Passed this school sign and got a bit closer to take a picture of the building.

Lots of bridle paths and speed limits because of the horses.
Had a welcome cuppa and a tea cake. One of the lasses loved my earrings, not a pair I am particularly attached to so I gave them to her before I left. A selfie because I felt like it!
Some interesting berries.
A sapling doing its best to brighten the autumn days.
And some horses dressed for the colder weather!

I took the camera today I the hope that the kestrel would be around, but it wasn’t. Tried to take pictures of planes without much success, cannot upload them until I get home so will post my efforts later.
May catch the bus into Maidenhead tomorrow, depending of weather and knees!

  1. A busy old day again for you. You certainly don’t get the chance to be bored.
Glad you finally got all the bells and buzzers sorted out. Nothing worse than alarms going off when you have no clue why.
The candle holder a really nice and not too hard to clean compared to some religious candle holders. Looks like you’re making a good job of them though.
I like the sky pic with the really moody clouds. The road sign works well in it too.
I had to look up what event Dorney held after seeing the sign. Looks like it was rowing.
I like the sign on the banner at the school. Not sure I believe a word of it though. Schools like that don’t exist 😊
You are a big softy, fancy giving away your earrings 😊 Although I know you have a couple of pairs left!
Hope the knees and the weather play ball tomorrow so you can get out for another little trip. Have fun.

  2. Have seen some different sights whilst here and enjoyed the grounds as well. Could get used to this life away from hustle and bustle but I am sure I will soon sl back into old habits once I am home. That sign is close to the Jubilee river so a water sport seemed likely.
The little lass that got the earrings was so happy which was lovely.
